replace or dash pad?
« on: February 19, 2011 - 11:49:45 AM »
I have a 72 challenger and my older dash has a crack in the usual spot. Its a non-A/C dash with 1 center mount speaker. The crack starts from the corner of the speaker and spreads towards the front of the dash. Given the dash angle you cant see it when driving but I'm looking to repair or replace the dash now. What are the details of the repair? I figure it will be tough to simulate the grain.

As for as a new dash, i've checked out this one:

I read the aftermarket dashes never fit quite right. Yeaone has been making them for quite some time and I know they improved their dash pad in summer/fall of last year. It is now supposed to fit better. Anyone here installed one of these new dash pads from yearone recently? Seems like a great product but the price is a killer.

Do you really want to spend that much money and only get an ABS core?

Are you referring to getting a new Dash Cap or Dash Pad?

Dash Caps, you get what you pay for.  They are inexpensive and built & look to stay that way (inexpensive).

Dash Pads, are pretty much the best replacements we have available today, but they are expensive.
