WOW Gant,

You've done an AMAZING job and taken on a project of such magnitude. Most people twice your age would be afraid to undertake  :22yikes: I know I would! Especially having never done it before. I might try some things out of necessity, but the things you're doing I think I'd have to have watched/studied/assisted under a seasoned expext before trying it myself. My hat's off to you. You have truly done an awesome job. I think you are the youngest person I've seen on this site to do such a huge project by yourself and also first-time. Keep us posted on the project. There is also a lot of knowledge and experience here on this site if you get hung up!! Great job!  :clapping: :woo:

Hey Matt I truly appreciate that, Its people like you that make this site great and the Mopar community and encourage me to take this on!  Its funny, while this is my first build and I have a great deal to learn, I feel like I have a great understanding of every aspect of the car that needs to be built.  The hard part is going to be putting it all together.  If anyone knew how much time I spent researching builds, forums, articles, magazines- it would be sickening haha.  No but seriously!  If there is a single piece of the car I become emerged in what materials or items can make it better in every way, but of course staying in the realm of what I can afford.  If someone is talking engines , metal , or fabrication, Im all ears.  Not only that, the amount of time to track down great parts at great deals is very hard to do!  But we do this becasue were passionate about it.  Not too many people other then the people on these forums can say they have the determination to take a rusted pile of metal and spend the next several years turning it into something!

One day when the car is done I want it to blow peoples minds!

I feel im going to need alot of help and advice when it comes to hanging the body panels from the veterans on the site!

I hope at the end of this that someone reading through my threads can gain ecrouagement and apply it to their own build, learn a thing or two in the meantime, especially from my mistakes on what not to do  :wavingflag:

Thanks again!  Ill keep the updates coming!

Hi Gant

Very nice work so far buddy, i will be watching to see how well you pull all this off, it is great to see such a young Bloke take on such a monumental task of building a car of this caliber, keep up the great work and look forward to the progress.

Hey Gant, Any chance you have a picture of the car, like an artist rendering of what it will look like when finished buddy ?

Thanks Hemiken,

Ive thought about having a rendering done but dont want to be held to completing it that way or unable to think outside the box because im trying to make it like the drawing.  Im sure things will change.  Styling wise I have alot of big ideas and draw inspiraction from all forms of motorsports.  I plan on having the car with characteristics similiar to the G force cuda, because in my mind thats one of the baddest car s around.  Im looking to do tastefully chopped top, stretched fenders, maybe a billet tail panelpiece, and I really want to do something modern with the rocker panels. I want to do a flat underbelly, etc etc.

As far a s a rendering only time will tell and if I get to a point in the car where ive got alot of parts established I may have one done because it would probably be helpful. But at the same time I kind of like things to be a surprise.

Ive talked with Tavis before and really admire his stuff.  http://www.tavishighlander.com

Man this is one "trick piece from RCR racing"  The previous dry sump tank I bought, one of the sections had some dents, Im not experienced enough to keep workign them out yet so I bought this other section that has a billet double bypass oil filter system similiar to the oberg style completely built in.  Check out the pics it is unbelievable.

Im going to cut the bottoms of each tank off and have a water jet flange cut out so I can weld them directly to the tanks and eliminate the clamp style system the patterson systems have and go to something more similiar to that of the peterson styles.

Did some work on my dry sump tank today.  The Patterson style tank uses a clamp style system.  I felt that this could be more like the Peterson style where two aluminum rings bolt to each other with a o ring groove machined in between them as a seal.

The tricky part was not deforming the tank in anyway, cutting the flange off and making the cuts and halves straight.  I think I did a pretty good job.  I used the current clamp and seal as a guide and basically grind-ed down to the line.  Worked pretty well and the two halves are level.  I might continue to reduce the bottom portion of the tank, but going to wait until determine how much oil my whole setup will need.  The tank is huge.

I ordered two 1" NPT x 4.5" long 120volt 500 watt oil tank heater probes for the bottom section of the tank and two 1" NPT aluminum weld bungs.

I plan on purchasing the metal in the next couple days for a lot of my car machining projects.  Ill then have to have the tank flanges cut, drilled for bolts, and welded.  Stay tuned.

Yah its pretty cool, Ive been doing alot of searching on what the engineers were trying to do with the block originally, pretty cool stuff to hear their ideas etc. etc.  From what I understand the head design they originally came out with was making almost 20 more hp then the other engines and nascar but the clamp on that.  I think the engines only down fall is it came in alittle heavier then the rest.

Hope all has been well! I have been pretty busy back at school, but just still collecting parts and moving forward.  As you can see Ive hunted down alot of parts and accessories to get everything moving when the time comes.
Hope you enjoy!

HAHAHA, yah Jamie and Grec as you can see in the pics the carpet is pretty shot, were going to replace the whole place with hardwoods eventually and this stuff definitely wont be in there then.  However for now, I keep all the parts clean, the engine stand is brand new, etc.
