Does Changing an Interior Color Significantly Devalue a 1970 Challenger RT

Hey ---

I am looking at a real numbers matching 70 RT 440 4spd TrackPak car.
Durring a restoration several years back, the burnt orange interior was changed to Black.   It was special ordered with leather front buckets.
It is a phenominal car - restoration ws done very tastefully and pretty darn correct.

It is listed in the registry.

Is this something I should worry about for future resale.  Does changing the interior color severly devalue the car?

I guess it depends who is buying the car . . . If an investor looking for a collector car . . Then I would think it would to a certain degree.  But to an enthusiast maybe not so much.

I just wanted to be sure it did not devalue the car horribly.  I am okay of it causes a 10% loss in premium later on.
I am buying the car becuase of how nice it looks and drives.  I think gomango with burnt orange is not horrible, but black and gomango is better.

:iagree:Even though it includes several parts the interior is a bolt on item.  It is not like the car has welded on fender flares.

No big deal to me.  I would prefer black myself and like 6pak said, it's an easy change so it can't  be to much of a worry.

Ok, sorry to be against the tide but IMO the burnt orange interior would be very different in a sea of black interiors.  Black interiors are pretty common.  I'm not even sure if you can get all the parts to correctly restore a burnt orange interior.  I saw a black '70 Challenger with a burnt orange interior and it was stunning. 

IMO, the question was would it decrease the value and I would have to say yes, but by how much, who knows.  It's not like the question of the numbers matching drivetrain or something like that caliber, IMO.  I would think a different interior, if it's more pleasing to the general public, may not effect the value too much.  (Unless you put a green interior in a purple car or something like that...)

Biggest thing is what color you would prefer.  Not everyone likes the burnt orange interior, despite it being the original color.  Somedays I don't like the original color of my car, Super Blue, and wish it were a black car....

...car is only devalued to the extent of replacing the interior with the correct color stuff, and maybe then some people wouldn't care...minimal at the worst

I would not think it would devalue it. There is nothing that cannot be undone later down the road.
