    I just joined the group and have some additional info I found about sunroof Challengers. The "Dodge Plymouth Muscle car red book"  shows the last year E-bodies were optioned and produced with a sunroof was '72 (whether they exist after that I have not seen any info personally) no number of cars produced is listed.
    The option number for the powered sunroof is M51, it is on the build sheet for my car, the build sheet does have "special handling" printed on it (could be for other reasons).
    My car does not have a sunroof option indication on the fender tag.
    It would be nice to know if a sunroof registry for Mopars is out there somewhere?
    Or if there is some information from the factory or elsewhere about the number of sunroof cars produced.
    An E-body bi-monthly newsletter "The Broadcast Sheet" also had an article about ASC (American Sunroof Corp.) my car was featured in that article.

    Unfortunately no, because of the original switch did not work and I never thought to save it, I found a completely different switch that worked in the same location and replaced it.
    I will look in my old pics to see if I can see it there.

    Even if it is not the correct switch can you post a pic of the switch area?  I am trying to figure out the restoration of a sunroof car where the roof was rusty and replaced with a regular roof.

    I have the info scanned but the files are too large so I need to reduce them to post here, I also do not have a good "after" picture with new switch, so I need to get one of those taken also.

    I also have the Dodge service manual with the sunroof service section also scanned, it might be to much info to post?
    I could email instead, unless you already have it?

    anybody seen the old MgGuyver episode when he is in an old abandoned parking garage/building? there is a green 72+ challenger looking abandoned in it with a flat hood and a sunroof

    It is funny you guys are talking about Sunroof cars.  I just found an ad on Craigslist for a 1971 Sunroof Challenger for sale.  The car is a 318, automatic, factory sunroof, ralley guages, power windows, power steering and power disc brakes.  It is in Atlanta.  The phone number is 770-608-6003.  The guys name is Mike and he is asking $4500 for the car.  The Craigslist ad is:

    Did sunroofs show up on the fender tag or only on the build sheet?  ANd where it shows up, is it diff. on whether it's a Challenger or 'Cuda?  Or the year? :dunno:

    The G20063 = VON (vehicle order number).  So "G" denotes it as a sunroof car???

    M51 is the code for sunroof:

    However, I don't know if that would ever show up on a fender tag and may only show up on the buildsheet.  Do you have a buildsheet for that car?

    Maybe for Barracudas, they were never on the tag.  But I've never seen a Challenger tag w/M51 on it either.


    No info on this car so who knows???

    It's going to depend on if the hole in the roof was there during the "body in white" process or if the car was shipped to another company for the sun roof install.  If the "body in white" required a different roof, the code would be on the fender tag.  If no special parts needed to be welded to the body during the "body in white" phase, there would be no code on the tag.

    Only codes that had to do with body modifications were put on the fender tags.
