318 Blue
« on: February 25, 2011 - 12:21:03 PM »
I am in the process of repainting my 74 Barracuda's engine. I ordered paint from Simmitt that is supposed to be for 318's from 68-74. They sent the paint and it's not right. Then they sent Duplicolors 318 engine enamel and it is'nt right either. Does somebody know the correct engine color/name? I went to Welle Auto, they said they could mix it but that it would cost almost 25.oo a can. This can't be that complicated, there are a million of these motors that have been re-done over the years, any help(specifics) would be appreciated. Thanx, Jeff. :feedback:

Chrysler blue.

I think the engine paint fades a little over time with all the heat.  New paint is going to look a little different that what you saw on the engine before you tore into it. :2cents:

Hi Jeff,
I think you can get the correct blue engine enamel from Year One. But a better place might be "Totally Auto". If you go to www.moparts.com and look at the list of sponsors, you'll find their web site. They mix the paints (available in spray cans) themselves. I think I got my blue engine enamel from them. They make quality and Mopar correct stuff!!

Do you want it OEM correct? Then you need to contact only one source. Frank Badalson.
