The ever popular "440 HP" motor was nothing more than a plain jane 440 with a LITTLE hotter cam, Valve springs, Double ROW timing chain, and a windage tray...ONLY the "HP" stamped on the pad is why these engines are worth so much more to a restorer. Everything that is in a STOCK "HP" 440 will be upgraded when time to rebuild comes around...UNLIKE Chevy, where the "High Perf." 454 had the steel crank, forged pistons, good rec. port heads, WAY hotter cam, etc....Chrysler up until around 1976, had Forged cranks in the 440 "HP" engine...
