Thanks Guys, The wheels and tires were actually a good deal , I know they are Mustang Bullet rims but the backspace and widths were almost perfect. http://www.americanmuscle.com/blackwheels.html

After some careful measuring , I deleted the bumper gaurd valance provisions. (i won't be running bumper guards) I used some 18 ga sheetmetal and flanged them 3/4 to the panel.I made sure that tack welded the new patches in while bolted to the car (this way the valance stays inline with the rest of the body). I then tig welded them so I can easily hammer and dolly any minor warpage that might be created when welding the new metall. It now only needs minor filler to be straight. It looks much cleaner now without the holes.

So true. If using stock type leaf springs, yes, that welding trick is sure to get you in trouble.

And if building a rear suspension something like the link below, then all that welding starts to make very much sense?

:poopoke:  I have a RMS triangulated 4 link .Yes, If you have a leaf spring rear the shackles would hit the valance   :roflsmiley:

I spent a day media blasting inside and out the fenders, header panel, dash cage and rear valance. Epoxy primer followed after that. No real suprises, just some minor work was hiding under the paint.

I installed a set of fender gill patches today. After getting the correct location and fitting them to size ,I created a 1/2 flange all the way the patch panel. I used SEM panel adhesive ,this way it will elinminate any warpage caused by welding and also keeps the dreaded mig weld  (hard weld ) to bleed through the paint on hot sunny day with dark colors

This car will be a stud.  And this obviously isn't your first rodeo with fab work; impressive.

Just curious... being from MB, SC, are you familiar with the Classic Car Musuem in the area?  It isn't advertised as a Mopar exhibit, but out of the 40 vehicles on show, about 35 of them were 1967-1970 Mopars.  (1 owner who is now displaying his collection.  90% are former drag cars that are original and unrestored!... While on the tour, a visitor asked the owner why he had "so many Dodges and only 1 Mustang?!?"  The owner smiled and calmly responded... "Well, I liked winning".)

Best of luck as you keep building your E-body!  I enjoy watching the progress!

I go there 2-3 times a year just to figure out how to put the gtx back together. The guys that run it are real nice, and boy do they have some sweet cars. Of course the hemi cars are great but one of my favorites there is that black 72 340 cuda with the shaker hood.

With the hydraulic clutch master cylinder being fully bottomed out when I depress the clutch, I decided to make a ajustable stop for the clutch pedal. The pedal rod in the kit was too short, I made it 1 inch longer. This way the clutch pedal sits in the full up postition. Some other items done today was making a shifter bracket that angles the pistol grip back 20% and moves it back 1 inch,. The shifter feels much better now. I will have to move the shifter boot and bezel back another inch also. Made a few more brackets for the vintage air and some windshield frame gussets.
