great read so far, I have a question about the cross member in the tunnel. Did you just use the piece of 1/4 plate rolled? I am planning something similar for my 70 and liked how your tunnel came out. I am still planning on running torsion bars though so I planned on using 1 1/2" .120 wall for the replacement section that gets removed.

  The crossmember definity needs to be connected back togetther I left that section out for now as I am mocking up the car with the modifications .ect ect, I plan on using some 1/4 thick flat formed to the tunnel ,Once I pull the car back apart for paint, Its easier to do once its on the rotissary. Look sweet John.  Great craftsmanship.  I did the gas struts in my trunk as well, but I don't have the equipment or skill to make a set of trunk hinges like that.

I ended up buying a set of the Electric Life power windows to try.  I'll probably put them on in a few weeks.

I decided to extend the rocker panels down 2 1/4 inches from the factory rocker. I didnt like ugly pinch weld and flat spot on the bottom of the rockers (it kinda looks unfinished). The result is ,the car looks lower than it really is, it hides the underside components better(exhaust, transmission ect.) and makes the area look more finished

Now that is a sweet mod !!

Do you have a picture of the finished sanded product?

Did you leave any holes for water to get out? 

Is it totally sealed in?

I plan on drilling some holes in the bottom for water to drain. The rocker panels are all welded in, . everything but the outer body sheet metal had been media blasted and primed, I want to rough the bodywork and custom mods out first, then media blast the outer body when the car come apart for paint. This is really important because you want to media blast all your welds(even after you grind the weld smooth),then apply epoxy. If you don't the paint will eventally lift.

Keeping with the theme of making the car as smooth as possible, I extended the drip rails down 3/4 of a inch down to cover the window channel molding. With some 22 gauge bent at a 90 deg, I stretched it around the drip rail and welded it in, being careful not to warp the roof and made sure it cleared the door glass.

Hey John,  Thanks for your feedback suggestions and ideas.  I working on the design now and will post some renderings when I get them drawn.
By the way, Dropping the rocker panels is brilliant!  That with the right wheels and stance, will have everyone saying, "I like yours best but not quite sure why."

Hey Ted ,  Can't wait for see what your aluminum trunk hinges will look like.If its anything like the hood hinges it will be a hit . Its such a great improvement having the trunk lift gas shocks over the clunky torsion bar set up the factory did.It gives the car a much more modern feel for sure. This is the car on how it looks at the moment. I am in the process of fitting the muffers and exhaust pipes
