Do you happen to know what the part number is on that Carter pump you are using is? What regulator are you running?
I don't know the part number off hand. It looks exactly like the GM 4862, but puts out 6-8 PSI. From Summits website it appears they have redone the design. The GM 4845 has the same specs. as mine. The regulator I'm using is some Summit brand cheapie with no return line. It has held up fine for 7 years now.
MEK - Is your street pump the Carter GM4845 with 6-8psi pressure? For your fuel pressure gauge, what brand are you using, are you running mechanical or electric? I like the mechanical gauges, but most folks say don't plumb fuel into the passenger compartment. thanks.
As I said above, those are the specs of mine, but maybe the re-did the design some? As for my fuel pressure gauge, I run both mechanical and electrical. Call me anal.
The mechanical is under the hood, and I trust it as the truth. The electrical isn't quite as accurate, but I can tell when my pressure takes a dive. I had a worn pushrod activating my fuel pump, and it was worthless at WOT. Thankfully the mechanical gauge helped me diagnose it. You can see in the picture I mounted it in the switch panel.
