That's probably worth as much as your car if it works :grinyes:

I don't know about that, I paid $2200 for both the black 72 plus this green 72 parts car in the pic below.

Is that thing an 8-track or or a regular cassette type? I've never seen another one anywhere else. Where can I find out when they were available? It's a kind of golden color on the outer case. I belive that was an optional interior color on the '72 Challenger wasn't it? Any idea what they are worth if they work and if they don't work? I plan on selling it along with the rally guage cluster, the stock radio and the R/T hood to help fund the project. I have a slightly different idea of what I want in my car compared to most people :grinyes: .

It looks to me like someone transplanted a console from a 70 E-Body into your car. That is a casette player. The hole on the right is where a microphone would go. Yes, you read that right, a microphone. I believe Year One still sells them. Nothing like taping yourself singing while you drive  The woodgrain ball shifter is also out of a 70. That was a one year only thing. I really can't tell you what it's worth. It doesn't look too bad either. I wouldn't take less than $500 for it. You haven't seen one because they are rare, that's what I'm trying to point out to you. You really have something there  Maybe someone else would have a better feel about it's worth, but it will buy you some parts. :grinyes: Now why couldn't someone have put that in my car???

I actualy prefer the T-handle on the 71-71 Slap Sticks. Go figure, I get a 72 with the one year part I didn't want

If you can look at that pic closely you can read where it says Microphone above that socket on the right ;) .

I've had two 70 Challengers and a 71 about 10 years ago and between the all of them, I've pretty much already figured out what I'd like to do with this one. The tape deck, along with the other parts I mentioned earlier, has no place in my plans for this car so it's gonna go. I'm planning on bringing these parts with me to Carlisle if I can make it out there this year :dontknow: .

What - you don't already tape yourself as you drive along??

And as for you gomopar440 - you will be in PA ( or is it your car is in PA? ) and have NO reason to be at Carlisle, so we will be expecting you.

I bought my cars from a guy in NY and had him trailer them to my friend's dad's body shop near Bloomsburg, PA right before Christmas. I have only seen pics and gotten email reports of the condition from my friend so far. I really need to get over there to check them out personally but it is a bit of a haul from here. I'm stationed in Puerto Rico with the U.S.Navy right now and am having to try to get this car together using just phone and email right now. I am hoping to get over there some time this spring to look it over and tinker on it for a while.

I'm not like Rusty cuda and have no knack for sheetmetal work so I want that done before I get the car here. The guy working on it has about 25-30 years experience in bodywork but it's mostly with Furd stuff.

I'm trying to swing getting the parts together for the engine before I go up there. That way I can give the 318 a quick rebuild while I'm there. After that I'll finish some more details and make sure it's safe for the road. Hopefully it'll be running well enough so I can take it to the Carlisle show and then drive it to Jacksonville, FL afterwards to get it shipped to PR. If it is not ready  :dontknow: . The car has to be running for it to get shipped here or they will charge me about twice as much to get it here :banghead: .

First off, welcome aboard GoMopar440!  (I don't think I said that earlier)
Secondly, about the console, if you want to go correct and sell your current console, I'd say you should get around $350 and maybe into the $400 range. (It probably could go for more, but most people are looking for original black consoles.  It sounds kinda dumb because people usually redye them anyways, but the off colors don't go for as much as black ones do.)  I saw some at Carlisle last year for around $475.00-$500.00 for black '70 consoles.  I can't believe there's such a price difference between the '71-'74s $120-$200 consoles.  Alright, I'm way off the topic now, so I'll stop.  Hopefully we will get to meet you at Carlisle GoMopar440!!!  I know you'd have a blast even if you went without the Chally! :grinyes:

I'm not getting rid of the console, just that tape deck thingy. Since the interior will be completely redone in grey, it doesn't matter what color it is right now.

I'm planning on going even if I don't get the car running in time for Carlisle. I'll be only an hour away so I may not stay at Carlisle to save a little bit of money. Still undecided on that right now. The condition of the car will dictate how much time I spend working on it and then going to Carlisle. I'll have to get an idea where and when you guys are planning on getting together so I can at least meet some of you.

There is parking all around the show grounds, but only registered cars are allowed inside the show, best advise is to get there early in the morning for the parking fills up quickly, otherwise you may have to hike a bit to get into the show. As far as meeting c-c.c members... EASY. just go to the e-body section of the show and look for a big tent with a bunch of funny gigglely people. There will be a "club" sign hanging on at least one side of the tent to identify us.

But if you plan to be there for the whole 3 day show and if you can drive your car, don't be concerned about the "show quality" aspect of you car, you will see all stages and conditions of cars. And also the registeration fee for a car not only allows you to drive right into the show the fee may actually save you (or be the same as) on three days of outside parking and entrance fees.

We plan and dream of this "get together" all year long, some of us actually DO dream about it..........hope to see ya there......

Here is what may seem to be an over-paranoid question:

I will be going to Carlisle, and I'll be dragging my bro and his Cuda out as well - so far so good.
I will be traveling down and staying at the hotel with you guys.
No my ride is by no means the rarest or most desired, but how safe will my car be in the hotel parking lot?
Is this any concern or will everyone there be a " car guy " and I shouldn't have to worry about dents scratches or some moron trying to rip something off.
My car locks, but that is all as far as antitheft goes.
I have not been down there at all, so I'm not sure what the atmosphere is going to be like.
OK gotta go, I think the government is watching me too.

Thanks in adavance
