70 barracuda vinyl top questions??

I am almost at the point the I have to start thinking about how to replace my vinyl top on my 70 barracuda. From reading other post, i am thinking it is better to remove frt/rear windows to install new top. Is there a rubber seal or something that I have to buy for the windows to be reinstalled? Also found that my top has staples holding vinyl down inside rear window area(through metal on lip of window, under chrome). Do these have to be replaced when installing new top? Any help would be great

When I had my vinyl top installed both windows were in.  I took the car to a vinyl top install shop.  Picked out a pattern that looked very close to original.  Left the car, came back the next day, and top was installed.

I was hoping to install top myself, as long as it does not become too much of a pain in  the ass to do so. There is rust in a couple of spots around front & back window that need attention, so windshield & rear window are coming out. I need to track down some window rubber for reinstallment of window.

All you need to reinstall the glass is 5/16" butyl tape.  You should be able to get it at a parts store.

be ready for alot more that just couple of rust spots once the top is removed.It can be done either way, with glass or without,but I'd pull the glass and get all the rust taken care of before anything
