8.75 E-body rear end
« on: April 05, 2002 - 05:50:42 PM »
Im going to spring fling tomorrow ,looking for a complete rear end, brake to brake hopefully. My question is how can I be sure the rear end I find will be  a E-bod, and not an A or B body? is there a dimension length? chances are slim Ill find one , but you never know.......

Lucky for you I have my 1984 Direct Connection Carroll Shelby's Mopar Chassis book handy!

Now, I just hope I'm not too late!!

Okay. The Axle Width Chart shows:

Standard Track : 70-74 E-Body 8 3/4":  60.7"

They have no measurements for Housing Flange to Flange.

Spring Seats Center-to-Center: 46.0"

Hope that helps! DON'T FORGET TO TAKE YOUR TAPE MEASURE WITH YOU WHEN YOU LEAVE!  ;)

The 66-70 B body rear ends will work in an E body too, if you don't mind welding on new spring perches. They will also give you an extra 3/4" of outside tire clearance on each side in an E body!
