You are correct. The plan is to get enough parts manufactured so they can start assembly on 150 units while the next batch of parts is being produced, and the first batch is about six months out.  I am number 244 on the current list, and I was told the are a little over 300 people so far. At 244 I am looking at about ten to twelve months for mine.

The good news for me is....my 23 spline OD arrived today. Hopefully I will get it in this weekend and report back on it gear layout.

OD already dropped in? Is it possible to modify A833 to be an OD Transmission?

Yes, its possible. There were factory offerings in the late '70s that Passon has somewhat duplicated to convert other standard A833 units. It turns it into a wide ratio 3 speed with an .80 OD gear.

I wish.  :swear:  :pullinghair: I pulled everything off and found out Mc Loed set me the wrong clutch disc.  I just got the right one last night.  :jumping: However, my weekend is already booked full.   :banghead: 

I am going to try and squeez in every minute working on it I can.....and with a lot of luck I may get it done by Sunday.   :working:

As you can tell by the date of this post...it took a couple of extra weeks to get everything button up.

Okay, what a difference a new OD trans makes.  First and second are almost identical to a stock 4 sp. Second has a little longer leg now. However third and fourth are totally different, third has a good drop in RPM and forth now lets me cruise a 2500 RPM at 70 mph.  luckily I have plenty of torque and HP so there is not much lag.

I can't wait to get the clutch seated in so I can do a couple of full throttle blast.  :2thumbs:

And another question: I've heard about another 5spd transmission, which is supposed to be "fit as is" and "just bolt in" coming out this fall. I don't remember the manufacturer. Does anyone know more about it?

Right now, the only confirmed, bolt in without mod transmissions are an A833OD converted unit or the Passon 5 spd.  McLeod is rumored to have one they are claiming is a direct fit bolt in, the Muscle Car 5, but until it comes out and can be verified, its just talk. They actually are a few years late in delivering said transmission already.

Oh yeah, the A855 fith gears is 0.70:1 .  But the rest of the gears are just like a A833.

Also, I spoke in detail with Jamie about my setup including, motor HP, Trans, rearend gears, and they built my OD for my car the best they could.

As the A855 will not be available for quite a long time I'm asking myself if going to a different rear end gear might be good solution to bypass the waiting time. I guess I'd had to go for 2.84 in that case to achieve similar rpm drop. The drop would apply to each gear however.
Is it difficult/expensive to find an appropriate gear and exchange it? I've never disassembled the rear axle so far.
