Wow. 10k for a 4 speed.  :eek7:
Did my 4spd conversion in '88. Found a nice 4 gear for $500. A friend was taking a 4speed out of his 'cuda so he gave me the pedals and Z bar. Found a couple bell housings in the scrap yard, 10 bucks each. Bought a Hurst super shifter new and made a hump for the tunnel. Prices sure have changed.

Hey my friend, I've been looking at GearVendors and thinking it's a no brainer for another car I have. Once I have experience with it on that I may just add GV to my Cuda and call it good! I've talked to a couple of guys who have GV and they cannot break them even with 1000hp!!!

I decided not to do an OD, just an 18 spline Hemi 833.  Total was about $6k to my door, 2.5 days take out everything with the 727 and install everything with the 833 included FatMat sound deadener.  Order to delivery was 2 months, but Brewers had just received a bunch of orders from a bigger event so it could be shorter.  The kit included everything you need except the speedo gear because they assume you are taking it off your 727, so order one if you need one.

I agree, if I ever want to go OD I would add the GV.  Just be sure you plan for the exhaust to be able to fit the GV unit.  TTI has an H pipe specific for the GV unit.

Hey guys, I searched something on Passons website and I found the A855 listed in the 'complete transmission' section. Does it mean they are being shipped out already?
Also the price seems a lot higher than expected. It's $5500 on the list. I think it was supposed to be something like 3.5k, right?
Does anyone have any news on that?

Yes, they are shipping, but if you get on the list, you may have to wait 2-3 years for it.  Might as well put yourself on the list and when you get called, you may be able to "sell" your place in line in the future if you don't want/need the trans.

I think initially it was to be $3995 or something like that, but since then, they're now another $1k.  That doesn't include crossmember, driveshaft, shifter, bellhousing, or anything else.

I'm on the fence on getting the SST 6-speed conversion, which includes everything except clutch and shifter, but will require cutting and welding.

Thanks for the reply. Finally they ship out but the high price on the other hand is quite a spoiler. If it's 5.5k for transmission only and If I can just replace my 833 without any additional purchases I will end up with something like 8.5k after shipping and clear customs.  :eek2:

definitely sounds a case of the "best of plans gone wrong" as Passion figured out it was much more expensive to build then they thought. You'd think with all the interest in the product they could have amortized the R&D across the sales keeping the price lower but perhaps it just costs a crap ton to make thus the high price. Unfortunately I think the high price will be a bit of a non starter for many especially with all of the Tremecs out there and so many conversions already done. I don't think I would spend $5500 on one.

Finally I ordered an OD gear set from Brewers and I have exchanged the gears from my A833 just yesterday. It worked quite well and I'm satisfied with the OD gear.
The rpm drop is quite significant (from 3700 down to 2600 rpm at 65mph). Cost around  $600 plus one day working.  :2thumbs:
