3.54 x .80 OD yields an effective 2.83.
I already checked the calculator. I should be at 2700 rpm at 60mph, but I am at 4000rpm!? :dunno:

My rear rubber is 275/40-17, which I think is only a little smaller than the oem 14 or 15" rubber, but thats factored in the calculator anyway.

But, my speedo actually reads 69 mph, which is 60 mph actual speed over the ground according to an accurate following vehicle, and my odo vs measured mile (My speedo is 15% high). Maybe my tach is off too? Its adjusted by my 6AL ignition.
But even at 69mph I should be at only 3200 rpm.

Maybe you're steeper than 3.54's. Are you sure you're not 4.10's?

even 4.10s dont run that high.
The prior owner was a rear end mechanic who told me he built that rear himself, and that it is a 3.54.
Also, the numbers on it indicate it to be a 3.54 powr-lok.
Do they make a gear higher than 4.10?
I wonder if he put the wrong gears in it?
Highly unlikely.

I will tell you one thing though...I could easily pull tree stumps out of the ground with my cuda if I had a hitch out back
Off the line, it screams to about 6000 rpm in about 2 seconds.
But my clutch is starting to slip so I'm babying it lately.

Real soon here I'll be searching the clutch recommendation threads.

I just dont get why it revs so high with 3.54 gears.
Something isnt reading right.

Do you have the original Rally tach? Many read faster than actual over time. It might be time to have it rebuilt.

4.30 or 4.56 are other options. MEK might be onto it. Buy a cheapy tach and put it where you can verify against your Rallye tach as a check.

?

u already have an overdrive? thought u had a close ratio four speed which will give u a 1:1 ratio in 4th gear

I was merely affirming that if I was to modify my 4th gear to a .80 it would then effectively make it a 2.83 final drive.

My Rallye tach was rebuilt with the cluster about 8 years and 4500 miles ago, but I think I will try to get a second reading on the rpms. Thats a good idea, but I bet my tach is correct because the car sounds and feels like 4000 rpm at 60 mph!

I guess the only "easy" way to confirm my rear gears is to open er up and count the teeth?

Jack it up and count the driveshaft revolutions per one wheel revolution.

Yes they are out , Barry already has one in his Chall in Salmon Arm & loves it !
I would connect a second tach even just under hood & & compare to what you are reading inside .

I'm just wondering how fast Jamie is turning them out. I know they are the greatest thing since sliced bread, but none of my potential customers want to wait over a year to get one. :pullinghair:
How fast does he turn them out ? When does he plan to be caught up?
Will there ever be a time when he'll have some sitting on the shelf for sale ?

I would talk to Jamie about all of those questions , now that he has everything I would think he could catch up relatively quickly , personally I would just install a stock 833 until the 855 is available & swap it out in an afternoon , the best is worth waiting for IMO .

I think that's the route I will take if I have to, I would like to install everything at once from underneath so without a trans it will hold a lot of progress up, just wondering if I could install the bell housing clutch/p.p and do the gear box at the last minute? I have the hydraulic clutch bearing to deal with(shims)hopefully it will work out. that way the motor is in and I can do what I can till I am at the point I need to install the trans, what do you guys think? I know it's not the best solution but it's either that or install an 18 spline 4-speed with everything else and change out the box at the end of the season. (I need a 4-speed for the roadrunner anyway).  thx bruce :dunno:

My problem is finding customers with paitence.....I have guys wanting a 5spd NOW.....I tell them their options and they don't want to wait....I just finished a Tremec TKO600 conversion which the owner insisted on....now I've got a guy coming in wanting the same thing...."no time to wait".....and he already has a A833 in his car... :banghead:
