When I was young, about 45 years ago, I remember climbing into school buses parked in the church parking lot and practicing shifting thru the gears, I remember it being a different shift pattern than done today.
Had a new bus driver once who could not shift, grindin a pound, poppin the clutch, he stopped , went into a house, came out and drove perfect the rest of the ride to school.
