Interesting story on a 73 vin

Noticed that the sign reads that the vin number match's the engine and the fender tag.
But the engine numbers are mixed up.

Upgraded on the assembly line?  Interesting....possible I guess.  As the parts bin was being emptied for the next year, stuff got thrown at cars.  Notice it's a '73 which is also the last year for the 340s in E-bodies before the 360's were put in these cars.  Would not be surprised if this was a late model '73, built like in July of '73 and they were trying to use up the 340 engines.

You guys noticed in the ghosted flames on the doors, especially in the last pic?  Weird.

I would guess that the VIN tag was mis struck and not an assembly line change.  I have a 70 SE here that has the VIN of JY29.  The VIN tags were typed out on a keyboard.  The G and H are next to each other.  I wonder if the title has a H or G? It happens.  Barry has some examples on his site.

I had a 71 Cuda that was all numbers, but the 3rd and 4th cowl numbers were switched, and the tranny started 298 instead of 398, also had a numbers 68 Charger that only had 5 of the 6 numbers of the vin stamped.  68 being the first year, I can see where the assembly line workers probably were grumbling about the new job and weren't too concerned about accuracy.

Doesn't say what he wants for it, if I had the time I'd run by & look at it since its right down the road from me but I'm heading out of town again tomorrow morning.  I wonder if the doors have been replaced or do they have the serial number on them too. 
Chrysler definitely threw parts at these things, my Roadrunner has an odd power steering setup that's always a pain to get the pressure line for since it doesn't show up as an option for my year, but does show up in some catalogs as a special order of some kind.

He says it has a good door tag so the mfg date should be legible.

I bet it's just a 318 with a 4bbl intake or something. Or maybe he is confused on what a 'G" or "H" means.  I don't think the factory would sneak in a 340....
