70 cuda tail light molding delete; who makes it?
« on: March 11, 2011 - 06:54:03 PM »
Hey fellas, I'm looking for any information on how to modify the rear tail panel of a 70 cuda so that the painted bezel is not used. Instead the lens and Crome trim fits into the tail panel directly. There is this build know as twisted fish that has this done and I like the look. I even saw a different cuda on YouTube with the same panel modification. Any help is appreciated!

Is there a company making the filler plates?

They welded in a panel to the tail light panel to make it smooth.

Yeah I figured it was a weld in panel to the original tail light opening. I was just wondering if anyone sold it aftermarket or had the cnc plasma file used to cut them out. Guess I'll have to write one from scratch maybe? Thanks again guys

Yeah, There is no one that makes them. I thought of making a few to sell myself but I don't think there is enough demand to make it worth while, The factory bezel is pot metal ,so welding them to the tail light panel won't work, but you could use panel glue to attach them to the tail light panel. I made some of my own for my car on the mill, the reason being as I wanted a flush mounted tail light lens, and the original bezels would not work. The problem was when I made the new steel tail light bezels to weld in,The tail light bezels are not flat so they need to be tweeked to sit it there flush. I have more on the process in my build thread here.     http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=75207.0
