A- body progress pics.....purists beware!!
« on: March 12, 2011 - 11:04:37 PM »
 :villagers:

Locked myself in the garage for a month after work and went into a Mopar trance and got some shizzle straightened out on the cuda.
Tried my hand at some cardboard mock ups of the trunk panels and tranferred them to lauan board and covered them in carpet.
Then got cocky and made a cardboard mock up of a console for fun, then decided to break out the power tools and see if I could make it come to life.
I decided to take it down the street to have it upholstered because I knew I could not pull that off, but I am really pleased with the way it turned out, better than I thought it would.

Dyed some nice, original white door panels black and finally got rid of my old, ratty door panels.

Replaced my clutch/brake pedal pads.

Built a tach bracket from aluminum stock- not fun making two bends in the vice with a hammer and a torch, but it turned out pretty good.

Just saving my pennies for a new headliner and some nice racing seats.

Oh, I almost forgot.
My buddy let me borrow his 3.91 chunk to play with instead of my 3.23's..........no! I don't want to give it back.
Gosh-dang, these gears are where it's at.!!

Having lots of fun getting ready for some summer cruisin'...thanks for looking.

That looks great!

I really like the console.  If I may ask, how did you do the vinyl/leather on the console?  The stitching is really nice!  :ylsuper:

I took it down to the upholstery guy down the street to make sure it was done right.

I was going to attempt to cover it myself but I don't know anything about sewing so I took it down to a professional.

Now that I know what kind of work he does I already have a few buddies that want me to make them some custom consoles and send them down to him to be covered.

He only charged me $125.oo.
Pretty fair if you ask me.

Thanks for the info!  :grinyes:

If I had attempted something like this basically I would have gotten vinyl from Joanne Fabrics and a bottle of 3M spray adhesive and end up with something a kid in 7th grade wood shop could have made...  :bricks1:

Again, looks great!  :grinyes:

The pistol placement is awesome.  Doesn't seem like any cars have good holders on the console for my gun.
That really does it for me.  Too Cool!! :bigshades:

Didn't even notice the gun!  I though you were taking about the Pistol Grip shifter!  :faint:

The guy in the movie Highwaymen could have used that console!  :grinyes:

I have not even seen highwaymen.  I will have to check it out.

Pistol grip next to a pistol grip.  What more can you ask for?

Sorry, not to go off topic but this car in the movie Highwaymen is supposed to be one of those factory Hemi Barracudas, supposedly also used in Malcon in the Middle when Malcom gets his own car.
