Anyone using 3" Stainless X-Pipe Exhaust System???
« on: March 13, 2011 - 01:54:08 PM »
Want to use 304 Stainless x-pipe exhaust system with on my 73 challenger.  I'm looking at local fabricators in Michigan and things are looking really expensive.  I've looked at and considered 'Pypes' SS universal system but don't know if there are issues with e-bodies.  Has anyone purchased any pieces that work on their challenger/cuda?  Also, any opinions on the new stainless 'band clamps' in lieu of welding units together.  I want to do this as affordable as possilbe.   :naughty:   thanks!

Sorry, stainless pipe and affordable don't go well with each other. If you want fancy, you pay fancy prices.   :smokin:
If I cant fix it, it's broke

stainless 3" systems are pricey,,this is the one i used and love it,,but it cost

Thats the one Im running  :2thumbs: if I had it to do over I would go with the 2.5 kit. it exits to the tips and is a little quieter  the 3 inch turns down at the valance so you have to re do the back to fit your car if your running tips. I added a set of resonators to help with the noise. My guy tack welded the pipes to keep them from twisting and then used the clamps.

Here's what I just ordered, 2.5" Magnaflow stainless. Out of stock til Mar 21, I'll just have to wait to do my exhaust. This was the best price on Magnaflow that I could find, plus I had a 10% Ebay email coupon.

Most vendors are advertising for ONLY 70-72 challengers/cudas.  Since my challenger is a 73, I'm wondering if there's a difference in underbody set-up that I'm not aware of between the 70-72's and the 73-74's.   :faint:

I sure hope not, mine is a 74. Perhaps the 73-74's came with different emissions equipment that wouldn't hook up to these systems? Just a WAG, if there is a real difference I'll have trouble on my hands.
