Need help with location of power source!

Hello guys....

Today I was removing the carpet from my chally in preparation for installing FATMAT and new carpet.  I found the wire that is connected to the light bulb that lights up the gear selector indicator on the floor console.  It appears the previous owner forgot to plug it back in.  What I dont know is where does the other end plug into?  It has a white housing around a flat male type plug. 

Can anyone tell me where the power source is that this wire connects to?

Here is what part of the harness looks like, it's a 2 piece deal as I remember.

It plugs into a orange ( maybe black)socket under the dash that has 3 sockets in it. Turn your lights on and check with a test light or meter for power when the lights are on.

Thats close....the only difference is where the one you found has the round pin mine has a light socket directly attached to the wire.  It snaps into the console (which also serves as ground).  The other end has the SQUARE plug.....this is where I am getting pissed....

I found two sets of 2 plugs (4 total).  Two sets are yellow and two of them are orange or red.  Each plug is a 3 plugger (3 round plugs in each plug) (like you mentioned).  Anyway, there is not plug that fits the square one coming from the console....

So, do I cut it off and put a round one on it...

You can run another wire and connect them but the stock set up is in 2 pieces. Sounds like you are missing the one I listed? I understand what you have now. I converted my car from a column shift to a floor/console shift and went through this too. FYI the common bullet conectors that are commonly available at any electronics store are not the same diameter as the Mopar set up.( smaller) You can make them fit by using an awl or something to spread them appart some. I think it's the red or orange plug you want but check it with a test light or meter first.

The console wire runs diagonally across the floorboard to the passenger side kick panel, there should be a corresponding orange wire with the flat plug in that area coming from the dash harness.

There are three of those 'triple' power connectors red, orange, and yellow. I don't remember offhand which is which, but one is battery(red?), one is accessories(orange?), and one is lights(yellow?).

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the responses......I just got home and ran out to look.  Bullitt you rang some of my memory bells.  I remembered when I installed the new dash wiring harness there was an orange wire at the end of it by the kick panel that I could not for the life of me figure out what it plugged into.  Because the wiring harness for the gear selector light was under the carpet I could not find it. 

So today I plugged it in and gave it a try.........HOUSTON WE HAVE LIGHTS AT THE GEAR SELECTOR ON THE CONSOLE!!!!!   

You guys freakin rock!!!  I would have still been scratchin the ole noggin trying to figure this one out.......
