Hoping for a second chance tomorrow
« on: March 16, 2011 - 04:18:17 PM »
I am so nervous about tomorrow. I hope to get released to go back to work  FULL DUTY   I have been hurt since april of 2010.  I got new pieces installed in my spine and tomorrow the doc could release me back to work.  Guys----I really really need to go back to work.  I miss my trade, I miss my pay checks, and the travel.  Even tho my job is dangerous at times, I feel empty if I am not performing.   If the doc says I have to wait 6 more weeks, I feel I will just give up and hit a tree or something.

So wish me luck    and maybe I will be able to stop by your area and talk Mopar in the next few months.

Fri I hope to be doing my anual OSHA refresher about 40 miles from here. Sunday be on a plane to Omaha Ne, and drive to Sioux City Iowa for a week of Mine safety, then be released to go across country fixing anything broke in my field.  I'm setting on my hands right now as to be rested for tomorrow. If I have to fake it I will, but I'm worried about the Exrays. They don't lie.

If I get to work, I wont have to sell my car or any more items just to keep food on the table.  Life had dealt me a serious blow the last few months and it has been all I can do to keep soaring like an eagle on top of the game.

Al,

While you are out of work, don't you get workman's comp or some kind of disability payment?

I wish you the best tomorrow. I know you are ready to get back to the grind.

First off . . . . Please . . . lets not hit any trees or anything like that.   :nono:  I assume that is just talk.   :blah:

Next I really don't like the idea of faking it 'cause if you ARE still hurt . . . . . . . you could hurt yourself even worse especially when you are dealing with your SPINE!      :eek4:

If you feel better and the doc says you are good to go  . . . .  then more power to ya!

Good luck Al, that would be horrible. No WC sounds like some BS, they did the same thing to my brother when he blew his knee out.

Im not going to hit no trees Dave.  I do feel good to. Just these docs see stuff on xrays that we dont see.  Something about the muscles grafting back to the cage and spline.  With them installing plastic discs in me and a cage around them, doc says sometimes 6 mos min. I just cant handle that

I was hurt on the job, but the first doc (reg) listed all my problems like arthritus, instead of smashed disc. So WC saw arthritus and made me pay back 8500 bucks before I could get any insurance help. The spine doc said right off it was job related.  I was lifting 700 lbs when I was 40 ft in the air on a 6 inch beam.  Never felt good after that day.

Seems like WC does everything it can not to compensate workers when they are hurt.  :swear:
Hope things work out for you Al.
By the way, how far are you from Atlanta? I may (not definite) be going there for 2 weeks of training next month.

thanks guys. I can use it. Normally I used to stay out of town 4 weeks then home for 2. But since I have been off so long, I am staying out 6 weeksm to try to get ahold of finances better. Im hoping it wont take long. But all depends on tomorrow. I have been watching the clock every minute, actually for a week every minute.

Al, you should re-file based on the expert opinion of the spine doctor. Your general practitioner did not have the expertise to diagnose the depth of your injury. Many times, especially with spinal injuries, it takes X-rays and a specialist to determine true cause.
