     :iagree: If it's a E-body its already badass. You can make a 72-74 look just as good as a 70 or 71. But Yet I still prefer a 70  :bigshades:

      :iagree:     Get rid of the bumper guards. Paint it with a red or blue or hemi orange color and the wide strip on the side and it will get attention.
    The 73 & 74 rides are just coming around.  Mopars have been the reject until barrett jack.  Got to have a dime a dozen caromo or mus tung .
    There are a lot of performance goodies for the 318. Seen 72 Cuda with a 360 crate engine with fuel inj. SWEET. And great price for the 72 to 74's.

    Some might say you could make a 70 or 71 look as good as a 72 too...... :bigsmile:

    (Bumper guards are pretty much the ONLY  "ugly" difference)

    I totally agree.  I wouldn't get discouraged by the collector mentality.  The only reason I got a 71 is because that's what I found with what I could afford.  (I would've bought any 70-74 solid e-body at the time)

    Its funny about the bumperette thingys. When I am at a non mopar show people always tells me to take them off. When I am at mopar shows everyone tells me to leave them on. Its the same thing with the body stripe. The 72 is different than the 73-74. Some people tell me to switch it to the 72, but if I am going to switch it I am going for the Hockey stick! I love my 73 cuda but I don't think anyone will even notice it once I am done building my 70 hemi barracuda lol. I am always going to drive the 73 more though cuz she was my first love! (car that is) The only reason I am building the 70 is that everyone asks if I have a hemi, and now I do!

    Well, I got to see the car in question yesterday and man is she rough! More rust than any car I ever saw living in the rust belt.

    The good: Two tag car with "matching" 360/727 drivetrain. I put matching in quotes because I did not get down in the dirt to actually check the numbers. Everything is there under the hood including the A/C components and the 74-only air cleaner. Edelbrock carb in stead of the T-quad. Owner says it runs, but I didn't witness it. Has rear defog and a 3-speaker dash, so I'm guessing an AM-FM radio originally came in it.

    The bad: Needs roof, drip rails, both quarters, fenders, floors (ALL floors). Probably needs some roof inner structure work, judging by the gaping holes along the drip rails. There's a grille (I didn't see it), but it's broken and "brittle". Will need a little inner fender and cowl work, but the damage here is minimal compared to the rest. Did not see the doors, so they likely need help, also.
    Oh yeah....it's yellow with a white stripe and white interior.  :puke:

    I already have a rusty project, so I probably won't keep this one if I end up with it. I DO think it's a cool, rare bird and it deserves to be resurrected. I'll try to get pics up later.

    If you walk out to your garage, see your ride and say 'That is HOT!", then that's all that matters.   What anyone at a show (or even here, really) says or thinks isnt important.   I have had people come up to me at shows all excited to see the car, ask what motor is in it, and as soon as I say "318", they look like someone just killed their puppy.

    Thing is, in most cases, the car I am driving home to my garage is better than what they drove to the show.    :bigsmile:

    That whole 318/340 thing always baffles me. I mean, it's the same engine aside from the bore size, right?

    I like them all,
    But I agree with the collector mentality. Actually there were less '74's made than previous years as far as scarcity goes. Some folks just don't get it as far as someone that just enjoys owning, driving, restoring classic cars no matter what year/make model it might be or how rare it might be. Not that owning a rare car is a bad thing. I once drove my '68 Barracuda to a local cruise-in and got a snotty remark from an owner of a museum car (1920's Chivy that was actually purchased from a museum). I told them it wasn't a "project" and it was in fact "finished" to MY OWN LIKING. That was the end of that conversation. I agree with Shandango, the nice thing about owning a car that isn't really rare or highly optioned is you can do what you want with it and not feel bad. I had a number's matching 383 (California car) 1970 "Cuda" and I wouldn't have considered modifying it. But I now own a 1974 Challenger that came with few options and a 318. It now sports a stroked 440 (543). and I absolutely love driving it. And believe me, it turns heads!!  :roflsmiley: :smilielol: :roflsmiley: Watch out for the smoke cloud!! :burnout:

    There is nothing wrong with 72's through 74's, hell you can buy a mopar performance 360 with a sixpack that will put out over 400 ponies from the crate for a hell of alot cheaper than you could dropping in a crate 440 based 500Ci. Nothing wrong with that potential and some like the look of the grill better. I like em and think they add to the muscle car world more than others in Ma mopars line of beauties.

    I've watched my 73 Cuda go from $2,250 (price I paid in 2000) , a little high for a  incomplete, non matching or running car, but it is/ was solid with zero rust issues, to somewhere around 8-10,000+ today.

    Pretty good increase in value, but nowhere near my 70 Challenger.

    The only thing I don't really like about the Cuda are the clamaro-ish taillights and the bumperettes. As stated above, an easy fix.

    Speaking of which, it's kinda sunny and dry here in WA, mayhap I should think about bustin the E's out.............hmmmmm

    Hmmm...after some thought I decided to add my 2¢.

    Each passing year as the cuda evolved closer to extinction, minor changes were made to keep up with the current times of that era.
    Gas prices, oil embargoes, emissions, and what ever else was happening left its mark on the auto industry.
    My cuda came with a de-tuned smog equipped 340 and rubber bumperettes. 
    It cost me $3,911.10 brand spanking new!
    Oh WELL!  It's mine! and at the end of the day I can live with that.

    Do I like the 1971 hemi cuda?  YES, but I own a 73. That's all I am thankful for.  period.

    So it's an original KY5 Yellow Blaze 'CUDA with the 360 and all the original equipment still there.

    I have one of those (318 car) but it got rusted out too. Must have been a really cool car when it was new.
