Repeal isn't about not having medical care for the poor and lazy.  They passed a law that we all have to live by, and pay for, and they didn't even read it or know what was in it.  How much more irresponsible can you get.  Just acknowledgement of such an atrocity should have them barred from public office forever and possibly have criminal charges brought against them.

we are not a country governed by one man or Congress of men, but by the law. That, unfortunately, is a lesson that simply is not taught in our government schools. Go ahead ... ask your government school student to tell you what "rule of law" means. Ask them to explain the difference between the rule of law and a rule of men.

A' fuggin' men! Shout it from the roof tops!

It should be repealed !  And I do beleive taking care of "my" own, but I don't feel or think it is my resposibility (through taxes and etc.) to pay for others' health care. And when did you ever sign a contract without knowing what the contract said? Or at least had the right to read that contract? I feel Doji you do have a right as a human being to voice your opinion about all things including U.S. society, but you obviously are not aware of the totlity of this "Obamacare" package.  Medicare/Medicade is corrupt with fraud because the government is in control of it. Social security is in financial ruin because the government has used it funds for welfare to the same crowd of people who will have free medical care under Obamacare at the expense of taxpayers. BTW, social security here is not an entitlement, my employers and myself have paid every cent that I have comming in social security benifits throughout the years that I worked for it, but many others who have not worked also get monthly payments too because the government likes to spend taxpayers money to take care of _______________, don't dare fill in that space.!   :2cents:

Most Americans Don.t even know that the unfunded liabilities debt is 100's of trillions of dollars , not that 14 trillion they see on TV. There is no hope of ever paying off this entitlement debt ,  The US is worth about 70 trillion dollars but the government has wasted 8 times that amount and expects YOU and future generations to pay for it, Children are born into this country already OWING 50,000 dollars to thier debt. Taxed without representation before they are even born. Enough is enough , NO more promises, and there better be big Friggin cuts.

the USA is in a heap of trouble because of our ridiculous debt. Governments at all levels spending on credit with no limit.
And yes, each of those cruise missiles cost over $1million. I remember the media complaining back in the 80s when 2 cruise missiles took out 2 libyan vessles that were aggressively approaching our fleet in the mediterranean. They were complaining libya won the battle because the missiles cost more than their crappy little ships!

But....according to our constitution, the federal governments job is basically to protect and defend our citizens, and almost everything else is left to the states.
Those 5 words though. The ones that have caused all the trouble, despite the intentions that are clear from the federalist papers: "provide for the general welfare".
Now those are words any good attorney can manipulate. :hyper: :villagers:

A sizable portion of what is driving healthcare costs is that any "not-for-profit" provider is required to treat ANY patient that walks through the door, regardless of their ability to pay.

When my wife worked at a hospital, one of their biggest projects was to build a "triage" team in the emergency department because those without insurance will show up for anything from a headache to a serious wound/injury. If you can filter out true emergencies from the nuisance complaints, you can reserve the top-notch staff for legitimate issues.

Emergency departments are fully staffed, at all times, to handle "worst case scenarios". To waste those people on treating a sniffle is very expensive. The hospitals also "hedge" their pricing knowing that a large percentage of the business that the most expensive department (ER) will do isn't going to be paid for.

Change the law to penalize those who waste resources because of their laziness and healthcare costs can come down.

go-fish, I think you were a bit hard on dodj! I think he was asking a sincere question.

Which of the following facts is most disturbing to you guys?

1) We maintain over 700 military bases in 130 countries around the world. Why? (Like, Kosovo?), and yet....

2) The world's largest economy has 15% of it's people without health insurance. Why? (0% in Canada and Britain, 0.2% in Germany)

I'm not saying connect the dots, but it's easy to come to a conclusion, rightly or wrongly.

What would your reaction be if China or Russia announced they were planning on setting up 700 military bases in most countries around the world? Would we not view them like much of the world currently views us?

To be sure, a lot of countries can afford to take care of their citizens because they know guess who will come to their assistance militarily.

No easy answers.

Repeal this abomination of a law that was done behind closed doors, forced through our legislative system without proper review and signed into law solely for political reasons...not to solve healthcare problems.  Lets fix healthcare the right way.  BTW, if this is so great a deal, why has Obomination given out so many waivers to his Union buddies?  :villagers:

I agree with this!  And for those of you who use CNN as your news source and form your opinions on what CNN tells you there is no hope.

I agree it should be repealed, but dont know if it will. Unfortunately, Newt is definitely not the last word.
As for 15% being uninsured, for the most part, I am sure that is by their choice. This is a free country, or at least is supposed to be, and you shouldnt have to pay for health insurance if you dont want too. A lot of able bodied and indestructible 21 to 30+ year olds dont feel they need it, and dont purchase it. Its their choice!
As for those who just cant afford it, or are uninsurable, most hospitals cannot turn them away, so care is available. But for those who decided not to purchase insurance, and would otherwise be bankrupted by a serious issue, that was their choice too. Sorry if a medical condition has bankrupted anyone here. I dont mean to offend, but no where in the constitution is health insurance, nor even food, clothing and shelter guaranteed, but countless programs exist at all levels of government and in the private sector, charitable organizations, churches, etc. to assist those that need. Not everything should be governments job!!

My guess is that, like the general public, most on this site agree it should be abolished as soon as possible.
