trunk light wire routing?
« on: March 20, 2011 - 12:29:04 PM »
Does anyone have a picture of how the trunk light wire routes after it comes out of the deck lid?  Does it run to the inside or outside of the trunk hinge?  Take a look at this picture.  Do I have the black clip in the right place.(in the hole that's in the trunk hinge)  Thanks

Anyone have a factory installed trunk light?

This is the only picture I've found so far.  I need to know where the wire goes AFTER it comes out of the black clip on the trunk hinge.  Thanks

Our '70 Cuda has the factory installed trunk light, and it's just like you show in the picture.

I need to know what path the wire takes to get to the tail light harness.  Does the wire run into the trunk on the inside or outside of the hinge.  Does it clip into anything or does it just run diagonally over to the tail light harness?  Can you take a picture for me?  Thanks

That's for the neutal safety switch harness not the trunk light....BUT thank you for posting that.  I'm not sure if I have the clips installed on the trans right.  That's one less question to ask in the future.

Interesting...the picture of Dave Waldens car has the clip on the inside of the hinge while the factory drawing shows the wire clip on the outside of the hinge.  Obviously the line workers put them where ever they felt like it.

A picture of inside the trunk would still be nice though.

Can't say this setup is correct or not, but everything else looks nice.

Maybe back then it was just the luck of the "spool bend" as to which side to route. I'd say Position the wire so the hinge doesn't pinch it and be done.  :2cents:

I routed the wire how the factory drawing showed it.  I wrapped it around the back side of the hinge and installed the clip on the left side.  By looking at the bends that were present in the wire, it looks like it is installed correctly now.

The only issue I have now is that with everything hooked up, there isn't enought slack in the dome light harness to clip it in the topmost strap on the wheelwell.  Maybe I have the dome light harness in wrong. :bricks1:
