I can see the smoke coming our of Barry's ears!

Looks like as long as the State gets it's "Rebody Fee" they are happy.  The little asterisk on the title will not do much outside of Oklahoma.  Other states will take the title and issue a new title without hesitation.  If nothing more, it does acknowledge that this is done all the time and at least one state is trying to deal with it.  It can not be stopped, so trying to make the buyer aware is better than doing nothing.  But why the extra tax?

Pretty soon they will want to tax me for opening my door.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

If you read it, it looks like if you hang a new quarter panel, your car is now a "rebody".

A company can now use new body panels if:

Starter car must have a clean title, not a salvage
Replacement panels and/or body must be licensed by the OEM manufacturer
Replacement body must be the same as the original body (year/make/model)
Builder will have to pay "rebody" fee
They will be issued a new title with an asterisk and the word "rebody" on it
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Don`t jump to conclusions from some article and without the facts.I didn`t read the whole bill but here is a small excert from it-

" “Rebodied vehicle” means a vehicle:
a.   which has been assembled using a new body or new major component which is of the identical type as the original vehicle and is licensed by the manufacturer of the original vehicle and other original, new or reconditioned parts. For purposes of this paragraph, “new body or new major component” means a new body, cab, frame, front end clip or rear end clip, and
b.   which is not a salvage, rebuilt, or junked vehicle as defined by paragraphs 1, 2, or 5 of subsection A of Section 1105 of this title, and
c.   for which the Tax Commission has assigned or will assign a new identifying number."

I don`think "new body or major component"  means a 1/4 panel.I agree that it is done all the time so why not deal with it legally and correctly instead of just having self appionted re-body police trying to.  :2cents:

I hope other states follow suit. I'm sure a lot of the Self-annointed Mopar Purity Cops will throw a hissy fit about this. They would love to make "rebodying", however you choose to define it, a capital offense.

Especially with companies like Dynacorn making completely new bodies or biulding a "new" body around your old cowl so you can re-attach your orgianl vin tag.

That sure would make the Mopar Purity Guys happy, as there would make the "Real" cars prices go through the roof. It would also send a lot more old cars to the scrapper as it would make the idea of owning a car with a bunch of replacement sheetmetal (or rebody if you will) much less appealing. Next "Re Engined" cars will sport a cool asterisk on the title.  :eek7:
