GF looking at Caliber (she got it!!!)
« on: March 23, 2011 - 01:02:52 PM »
Hey, my gf is looking at a new 2011 Dodge Caliber as I type. Anything to look out for? She seems to like it a lot.
 :feedback:
Thanks.

I drove one for a four day rental.

Not all cars can have roaring acceleration, but any car should be able to handle a corner fairly well; one of the best handling cars I ever owned was an Escort, so cost shouldn't be a factor here.  The Caliber failed that test for me. It wasn't the worst I've ever driven, and my Hyundai is a lot worse (although I suspect it might have received a frame tweak before it left the factory), but on a scale of 1-10, I'd put the Caliber at a 3.

If you're getting a Caliber, get a 2008 or 2009 SRT-4.  WAY fun.

HK, she has a PT Cruser now. That is not the best around corners either. Thanks for the opinion.

Jeff, she is looking at a brand new one. She doesn't want used. Thanks anyway.

My recommendation is to rent one first.  Drive it for a few days in real world conditions, not that
"test drive" BS.

Like ChallengerHK, we rented one last year for a week, while visiting the in-laws.  After driving one for a few days, I told my wife that I would never own one. Poor handling, lack of power, layout of the interior, and overall comfort of all passengers, where my reasoning.

Thanks guys. But I think it is too late. I just spoke to her and she is on the finance part already. I wish she would have ask a few days ago.  :banghead:

Good for her!  If she's happy, that all that matters.   :woohoo:

She loves it. That is what really matters. I drove it last night, and it seems as good or better than the PT Cruser was.

I hope she's happy long term. They are neat looking vehicles, and the prices aren't too bad.

I had an 08 srt caliber and really miss it. I hear the redesign in the interior is very nice and a huge upgrade over the earlier models too.
