Why can't I sell her?
« on: March 23, 2011 - 07:20:37 PM »
So I have a '70 'Cuda clone for sale (I'm sure some of you have seen it, I put her up everywhere), but for the life of me I can't get her sold. I've shopped around to make sure I'm not asking too much, and my price is very fair from what i've seen. I get a lot of people asking to see pictures, wanting history and information, and who even want to come check her out in person. But once they get pictures, I never hear from them again, and those who say they'll come see her never show. I actually even sold her to someone who went to get money, but never returned (I left messages and e-mails, but I never heard from him again). I know it's a down economy right now, but not EVERYONE is poor. There are still people out there buying these things (aren't there?). Am I doing something wrong? Should I try to sell somewhere I probably haven't tried? Anyone here have similar experiences trying to sell a collector car? I'm more just venting then anything else, but if someone has any helpful hints on a good way to sell, I wouldn't turn it away :). I know if I could get a serious buyer here to check her out in person, she'd speak for herself about how great she is. It just feels like there are only tire-kickers left in the world.

Anyway, thanks for listening guys.

Not knowing much about your car, all I can say is money is tight for many....and once the weather is better and cruising starts, then more people are in the market :2cents:

The price is high.  Cars are selling but not at what they were before.

Good luck.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Yeah, I know. But I didn't think it was astronomical. I did that because I am not expecting to sell her at the advertised price. I thought for sure I'd get people making offers, but nobody wants to talk any numbers at all. I have a definite bottom-dollar number in mind that I'd be willing to sell for, but noone wants to haggle to get to that number.

Try a different approach.    Take LOTS of high quality pictures (you might have done that already) and put your bottom line dollar on it.  Give a great description and details of all the work done.  I hope the best for you.  Cool car!  :2thumbs:

Would the bottom dollar have to do with a 7 and 3 zeros  :poopoke:  :smilielol:

Spring Fling is coming real soon!  take her there park in the swap meat area with a big fat for sale sign.

I'm sorry MeanGreen. I trully wish we could help eachother out.

Thanks for the advice, CODY. All my ads expire within the month, I'll give it a try when I renew and see what happens. And thanks for the compliment; I love this car.

I just saw your add

Honestly no offense but I think you are asking to much money. I'm not going to pick at your car cus that's just not a cool thing to do. If that is what it is worth to you then that is the number.  Mine is in similar condition as yours and i dont think mine is worth that much and mine is an "S" code 383 car.

As another member said, post your bottom line in your add, lots of hi res photos. Pull up the carpet, get underneath, take good pics.  Tire kickers suck and will waste your time but unfortunately you have to treat everyone as if they are serious cus you never know who will buy it.

Good Luck man!

As long as I can remember to request time off work, I'll be there.

Don't worry about hurting my feelings. That's the kind of info I need. I bought it for way less and did a ton of work to it. I know it's worth more than I bought it, I just didn't know how much. The price I have it up for is kind of a guess to a starting point, and as I said I wanted to be bardered down to my bottom dollar, but if the price is too much to even start with, then I need to know. I appreciate the feedback from everyone.

I agree. If you've had lots of lookers but never closed the deal, the price is too high for what you have vs what they are willing to pay. So you then have to decide is selling it more important than getting your asking price. If moving it is more important, drop the price. If the money is more important, than figure you'll be sitting on it for a while and/or you'll need to make more improvements to bring it's perceived value inline with your price. You might have to do more website research to nail down the range you will need to be in rather than just start dropping the price.

Your no different than anyone of  us wanting a decent price.  Bar Jackson has made everyone think there
car is a gold mine. Granted some have scored a good price. Just like selling a house, fix a few things to
get it sold.. Dress up engine (paint), clean up the suspension , get the grease off the tie rods, clean or dye the carpet and vinyl interior, put on nice BF Goodrich tires,
they look better than the other brand tires with big letters. Many guys have the car painted but neglect the stainless and chrome
.If anything makes a good paint look drab is dull chrome,  Polish the stainless steel make the color pop,

Economy sucks. Everything happening this past month has brought the stock market down again.
U may have to spend a little to get your price or maybe a better price.
Price of gas is killing the economy.
Obomba  has raped us of our hard earned tax money giving it to the big spenders.
Just bought my Gran Coupe Convertible in 08.
I wanted a convertible and someone will want your Cuda.
Do the fixes or hold out for your price. If things look better this year U will sell the car.
Check these car sited get some ideas on listing your ride.

Good luck get it sold because the good times are gone for a while.

FinallyRearDrive,
Hang in there.  Your Cuda is beautiful by the way. Try Cars-On-Line.com, Cudaworld.com, HotRodHotline.com, Racingjunk.com, Racejunk.com, Autobuy.com.  We sold Blofish and Pink Ice through the Cars-on-Line Website.  It cost $45 but it runs until you sell it. Racingjunk.com is free and you will get tons of hits on your ad.  Our favorite sights to sell our Cars-On-Line and Racingjunk.
I think things will start selling better once it starts getting warmer outside.  People start looking more in the Spring and early Summer. If you have car cruises take your car and put a for sale sign in the window. Also go to car shows and put the sign up so people will know the car is for sale.  Look on the Internet for people buying Mopars and let them know you have a car for sale too.
Do not get discouraged.  Enjoy your car while you still have it. We miss Blofish already and it has only been a little over a week since we sold her.  Good luck.
