We have a block of 10 rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott Harrisburg West / Mechanicsburg.

Phone number is 717-766-9006 - rooms reserved under the name Cuda-Challenger-dot-Com

Rate is $129 a night - and I have that in WRITING...

Cut-Off for reserving is 6/7/11 - so don't wait past then to book your room.

First of all, I'd like to thank OldSchool for giving me moderator status in this forum!  (Honestly, why didn't I think to ask a long time ago?!)

Now - to business!  I want to get working for a new hotel.  I apologize for not getting to this sooner...  New job, new house, new life almost - it's been hectic and I've gotten distracted.

So, vote to let me know if you need (or are pretty sure you need) a hotel room.  Try to nail it down - I don't want to book 20 rooms and 5 get reserved.

I'll start calling this weekend for pricing - if you have any hotels to suggest (looking for ample "safe" parking, lots of outdoor space for lawn chairs and beer coolers, and decent amenities) let me know in this thread.

I'll also be tackling the Saturday dinner plans here shortly - I'll start another thread for that soon.

And now, to sticky my first thread!!!

I understand the place in Mechanicsburg off Route 11 is pretty nice. My motel was under new (foreign) management last year and it was below par. If I can remember the name, I'll post it for avoidance.

So far I have a total of 6...  I'm going to start calling around - should I try to reserve a block of 10?  12?...  I want to book a few extras, but not TOO many...

Also, what price range is everyone looking for?  I know we're used to the $70 range, but we've seen what that gets us...

"Shelby" at the Best Western hotel in New Cumberland (across the street from where we have stayed) quoted me $109 a night.

Problem is, every place I have called is sold out of double-bed rooms.  Only single King's are left.  (The Courtyard said they have fold-out couches that they can have pre-made if simply requested upon reserving.)

I wonder if something else is going on that weekend, or if Carlisle is gonna be PACKED!!!

I certainly hear ya - though I don't think there could be much debate that management at the hotel was a bit on the shady side...

I was told by the people I spoke with (see the "Pick a hotel!" poll) that we're being offered a discount by all but one.  It's not a hefty one, but from the sounds of it, these hotels aren't necessarily fighting for business - at least on this weekend...

We can always have someone call in a single room and see what they get told...

Well Steve, it seems that almost every Best Western is owned and operated by Indian or middle eastern descendants. Take that any way you'd like

Within reason price is not that much an issue... personally my back/neck wont take a Motel 6 elcheapo bed set.

Linda at the Comfort Inn was definitely an all-around American woman.    (Actually the girl at the Best Western New Cumberland was definitely american caucasian as well, but she was kinduva moron...)  Probably trying to work the hotel computer while texting on her cell phone at the same time...
