Okay, forget the "383 Magnum"; get the "383 Four Barrel"

Biggest thing that would piss me off is some know-it-all goes up to the VIN and says:  "It's not a real 'Cuda!"  So why put 'Cuda emblems on it?

Keep them off and retain the Gran Coupe emblems!  My plan.

Plymouth = commando / super commando
 Chrysler = TNT

I didn't mean confused so much as I meant someone will say "that's not right"

My 73 340 rally charger has "340 MAGNUM" emblems on the bulge hood . they are original.

I don't know when it is weasel to copy something and when not. Maybe it is weasel to attempt to copy a VanGogh at all. Probably I would think it weasel if you re-stamped your block, made up a fender tag, and a fake Vin plate. Yes, that is weasel.

I do know this, I have seen several original Van Gogh's in  Seattle museum, on a travelling tour from Dutch Reiksmuseum.  I didn't think much beforehand, but seeing them in person was totally impressive. The paint is just so thick. But they are beautifull.

Sure, nothing really is correct when you alter a car, but I think a "383 Magnum" would be a little more obvious than "383 Four Barrel" and a B'Cuda.

Yes, Van Gogh was amazing.  I saw his stuff in Amsterdam a couple years ago at the Van Gogh museum.

Even w/a Shaker hood, cut out rear valence, etc., etc., I will NOT have R/T emblems on my car.  Nope.  Not gonna do it.  Ditto w/the '71 GC I bought from Burpin; no 'Cuda emblems on that car.

Hmmm I kind of like the 383 magnum emblem, and since it is a 383 magnum engine, technically,i dont see the difference between 383 four barrel and magnum
You bought Burpins GC?Did you find any chunks in the trunk or under the seat?lol :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:

Year One also lists a        383
four barrel         fender emblem for `70 and `71 Barracudas.Would those be for Gran Coupes and base models with a 383?

Well..sure, the engine's the same.  Thing is, Magnum is a Dodge trademark.  Same thing with "six-pack", although many folks like to use that air cleaner sticker on Plymouths too.

Yup, got Burpin's GC.  I know he got a whoppin' deal, but that's okay, I got a rare (one of 161) car in real good condition for what it is.  May be awhile before I strip that thing to the bone as I need to get my Chally in paint at least.

She runs good so I may just drive it for a little while to feel nostalgic.

I know Burpin would rather have me resto it to stock, but I can't spend time and money for a puke green/tan interior car.  So...since it has such a nice flat hood, it will get a Shaker conversion and the whole thing will be black, like this car (only w/rubber bumpers):

Cost?  Well..although I didn't buy it through e-bay, I bought it for the minimum listed here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6409&item=2494972797&rd=1

One of 161?  Here:
http://www.440magnum-network.com/info/tech/1971barracudatotals.shtml

The car needs some interior work, but that's no big deal, and a trunk and a paint job.  Won't really know about the quarters until I break out the DA and get the paint off.  Runs great and whole thing looks straight and mostly rust-free, but ya never know these things.  It looks like it was painted in the early '90s or earlier so they were still into bondo back then ('cuz these cars still weren't worth it to put intense metal work repair on).  Can't be happier and Burpin' is a straight shooter.

Also, someone asked about the "383 four barrel" emblem for '71 Barracudas; I noticed on the website, they don't list it, but in my YO book (about a year old), it shows the same emblem aforementioned.  The website only lists it for '70 Challengers.

Garth

I'm waiting for Scott Smith from HarmsAuto to come out w/authentic shaker underhood braces.  He has correct trim rings now.

www.harmsauto.com

I know a guy who I've bought parts from/to locally and he is a master at Shaker conversions.  Helps to have a real one (like what he has) for comparison.
