How is the clearance between the drivers seat and steering wheel?  The seat appears to come up in the front close to the wheel.

Not an issue at all with the Tuff wheel. I'm slim at 6'2" and 180lbs, the wheel doesn't get in my way at all. If you have a rim blow wheel or anything larger than the Tuff wheel, or if you are a larger person, you might run into issues. I should note that these seats in general aren't great for larger people. The leg bolsters are borderline too tight for me, and the shoulder area is definitely tight.

Sebring.

Dodge extended cab pickup seats.

BMW Convertibles (E46 Conv I think?)

Ford extended cab pickup seats

BMW ones look the nicest and are what I plan to use.

What they look like:

Wonder how wide there are or how well they'll fit? I see on EBay that they are fully power as well, what kinda issues would that be ?

:iagree:  I really liked the look of the BMW "Vader" seats but they wouldn't fit, too tall in the seat leaving no room between the steering wheel and the seat. I spent an afternoon in a wrecking yard always drawn to the BMW seats as they look really nice but none of them would fit. I didn't want electric seats , one because I'm the only one who drives my car so once it's set.... electronic seats are useless. second they usually weight considerably more and are taller.

Basically all you need to do is remove the stock mounts with your grinder and fab up some leveling blocks for the inside track. Front bolt hole of the outside track gets used, and then I drilled an additional hole in the rear of the outside track that lines up with the factory hole in the floor. These aren't the prettiest, but it's only the second time I've ever welded. Took me an hour per seat.

I finally got my RX-8 seats installed.  I think they turned out pretty good.  They are really comfortable and match my interior well.  It really makes driving the car a pleasure.

What do you think?

Thanks.  Thats the stock color.  I had a hard time finding them.  They're 05's and I got them in 08.  Been carrying them around all this time, finally got them in stalled.

I chose the SEM color based on the seat color.  I've still need to install the old tuff wheel with a the matching leather cover.  That will be much nicer to hold.

Grind off the old weird ass brackets and then you have a flat track.  Then weld up some new brackets with bolts on some pieces of steel plate.   Put the bolts through the floor holes, set the seats on the plate, the rotate the plate under the tracks and mark with a marker, then pull it all off, trim the brackets and weld new brackets to the bottom of the tracks.  paint and slap em in.

I really don't have any pics of the process, but here's a comparison of the tracks though.

The drivers is, but not the passenger.   Just needed a fused power and ground.  had to be real careful with that, didn't want to set off the air bags.
