PLEASE help save the Clocktower.................

 I am trying to spread the word and bring as much support as possible to the preservation of an incredibly important architectural and historic place in New England that is in sever jeopardy of being demolished.

The Worcester State Hospital

 It was founded in 1833 as the first asylum in the nation.
This is what she used to look like.....



before a fire in 1991 devastated most of the buildings........

You would think it would make a fantastic condo development? You know a second home for Batman or Bruce Wayne!  Seroiusly though it would make a cool condo? Must not be near a bigger city?

They actually did do that with a former state mental hospital in Danvers, MA
Though most of it was demolished they still saved a little for condos.

It's right in Worcester, right across the street from UMass Memorial Hospital.

They did not go the condo route, as they have been building a new Mental heath facility surrounding the Clocktower. That is scheduled to "open" next year.

I remember going there to take pictures of the building around 89-90.  I thought the whole thing was gone.  Your pics are FAR better than mine.  I hope they do save the clock tower!

I'm not sure I still have them around.  I'm pretty sure they were taken with a 110 camera. (showing my age there!)  I remember I took at least a roll worth of pics, maybe two.  Now I gotta go hunting in the archive!
