Living on 2% less?
« on: April 01, 2011 - 08:56:32 PM »
Congress is pressing for budget cuts totaling;  $61,000,000,000.
Last year the govt spent                              $3,552,000,000,000.
Do the math. Our leaders cannot come to agreement to cut a whopping 1.7% from next fiscal years budget.

To put this in perspective, say you and your family live on $3,000 per month. To reduce your spending by 1.7%, you would have to cut an incredible $51 per month.

Even if a miracle occured and this cut was agreed upon, it does not begin to address what is looming on the fiscal horizon.

The sky IS going to fall, just not sure how soon!

I've cut much more than 2% of my families budget in the last few years.  Heck, I cut my mortgage  in half to 1600/mo alone, never mind lower vehicle payments as well.  The Govt needs to do something.

With furlough days and no raise over the last two years, I am living on 15% less.  :screwy:

The only difference is, I saw this coming and cut back on spending long ago.  Plus, I paid off all of my bills, so I could weather the storm.

What does the goverment do...........print more money so the can spend more.  :villagers:

That may also depend on where you live.  A 2 bedroom appartment rental cost that much around me.  Taxes and garbage cost $110 a month for a mobile home on a 1/4 acre of land.  And yes, people are leaving here because of it.  I stay because I no longer have a mortgage on my place.

i understand that there are some apartments around here that run a 1000. i pay 317 for a 16 by 80 mobile home. that i bought brand new in june of 06. i wish i would have not bought it but to late now. luckily my dad bought the land and help get it ready for the home. but it keeps the rain off our heads (now) and its home. after the wifes school loans are paid off i am going to buy some land and build a home prolly round 1800 square feet. i have some experience in construction. the cost of living around here is actually pretty cheap compared to some. but man this gas and groceries are hurtin this georgia boy!

The only were gonna finish up is to drop some big boomers. Islam and freedom don't mix. niether does communism and freedom.  They will fight until it is one or the other. Islam and women being free doesn,t mix, Communism and ownership of property and freedom of speech doesn,t mix. Freedom and tyranny doesn,t mix.

May God bless us until he;s done with it :wavingflag:

Ha, it was 3200 before I moved.  Nuts.

Tom

Depends on where You live and the like I'm sure.  317/mo wouldn't cover the property taxes here.
Usually pay matches cost of living but not in this day and age.

Kind of off topic, but they say that when minimum wage was around $2.75/hr, it would equate to making about $35.00 an hour these days.   :scared:

I don't know anyone ( unless they are government workers) that are making the same or more as they were 5-8 years ago. So many of my family friends have lost there jobs pensions etc.... Lots of grow men flipping burgers these days. I went from almost 60K a year to 12k .Hopefully next year will be better.  Really pisses me off when all levels of government keep raising taxes, licences, property taxes, federal taxes, provincial taxes, etc.....  like it's just expected ? They are so outta touch with reality it's not funny! I look around at government buildings or building projects like "art" galleries, opera halls, etc..... even police stations and it really pisses me off! How is it "bad guys" get a better place to sleep than I do? ( and for free, with me paying for it all)
I don't mind the idea of taxes , it's the waste and excess of it all that gets me!
