Powermaster part #8-47539 . PM68 on Y1. I'm trying to install this puppy to power a new sound system I'm designing.
Here's where I am:
What comes in the box (the long bolt didn't actually--they require you use your existing one so its shown here):
1st issue: New alternator has a 4-prong plug. Looks like I'll need a harness. I'll deal with this after its mounted. Old alternator used a set of wires (red on output terminal to starter relay/positive; black also on output terminal and goes to ?ammeter?, dark green on horiz field brushing to voltage regulator, dark blue on vert field brushing to voltage regulator (and carburator solenoid)):
Moving on, old alternator with old compressor/new bracket:
Powermaster alternator not fitting:
Well, sort of fits here, but not while in the car:
Am I mounting this properly?
Need another quarter inch...ugh.
Now, if I rotate the alternator way up so that it matches the bracket, I can align the belts by using spacers on the main mounting bolt. But I'll need new belts and will have to be very precise about their length (I only have a .5" to move) in the bracket. I'll also need to figure out how to run the A/C hoses.
Lastly, its not intuitive how I should mount it to the bracket using the provided hardware. No idea where the provided bolt goes.
I feel like I'm missing something here...this stuff isn't adding up...
