First trip to the drag strip
« on: April 02, 2011 - 08:53:51 PM »
Hey guys,
I thought I would tell you all about my first experience racing today. The track was packed so I only made 3 runs and I didn't do so well. My first pass I was super nervous and spun VERY badly. I was so surprised I hooked worse on the track than I do on the street... I ran like a 16.1 because I let out of it. My second pass I spun less but I was a little low on gas so on the big end the car ran out of fuel until I got out of it. This pass was a 15.5 at 88... So then I made a trip to the gas station to fill up. My third pass I tried leaving easy but still had to get out of it. My last pass was a 14.7 at 99 but I had a 2.66 60' time. My 1/8th time was 9.78 at 79. I am going to buy some drag radials and go back! It was a ton of fun. What do you think it will run with drag radials?
My car specs:
89 roller mother
Comp thumpr hydraulic roller .553/.519
RHS heads 1.92 valves
weiand stealth intake
INDY rockers
LT headers
3.73 gears
PTC convertor

Yeah that's a pretty sad 60' time. I'll bet you'll see a huge difference with drag radials. Sounds like you have a pretty stout set up. I would think you should be able to run at least low 13s. Possibly high 12s.

That combo has way more in it i would say in the 1/8 mile at least low eights. Just takes alot of tinkering and changes and keep making passes. Once you get that new low ET you'll be all
