importing into canada

anybody import a rolling chassis or a projest car into canada before? if so what was involved?

I have / am.
I have a car coming in from Seattle.
I am using a company called TFX International Vehicle Transport / www.tfxinternational.com.
They haul non-runners and that is what I was after.
Bottom line is do not crowd your self, the seller, or the transport company for time.
If you use a company like above they handle the dirty work.
If you plan on bringing across yourself therre is more involved (on your behalf)
Where are you located?
I am east of Edmonton AB, my import is coming  this weekend.

whats involved in getting a Canada car legal in the USA ?
1965 barracuda. Was 273/2 904 car had 440 360 in plans

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but there's

- wiring money to Canada (the bank's employees didn't know how to do it, I had to tell them how after researching the internet)
- cross-Canada rail shipping (an adventure in itself) and truck transport from border to PA
- border crossing paperwork (which the transposrt company assured us would be all taken care of - bzzzt! thanks for playing)
- application for local title (requires Customs and EPA exemption forms) that the state lost
- temporary tags (not supposed to be issued until Customs/EPA forms are in, but we had a very helpful tag lady)

The main problem was that the shipper was supposed to handle all the Customs paperwork, but totally dropped the ball. I had to visit the local Customs office in Philadelphia and get chewed out because of procedures the transporter didn't follow.

The two relevant forms were HS-7 (NHTSA safety exemption) and EPA 3520-1 (EPA import declaration form)

Then the driver got lost, we went to meet him a a truck stop in Maryland because he couldn't drive anymore that day, the battery was dead, the dipstck tube fell out of the engine while we were trying to jumpstart (don't ask), and it's awfully hard to get a big block Cuda with headers and a "borrowed" license plate from your other car home inconspicuously on a Saturday night (some kid in a 5.0 Mustang wanted to race me)  ;D

But getting a car out of Canada is easier than trying to send a bottle of scotch to someone *in* Canada, but that's another story for another day.

Never had any problems with either in or out of Canada. Just have all your paperwork ready beforehand.

Lives east of Edmonton and named Dan???????  Dan Ra.......?

Mine was a breeze! Picked it up in New Hampshire and brought it back across at the Thousand Island Bridge.
I had the receipt from the person I bought it from, as well as a "Report of sale of a non-titled vehicle" which had the local Notary on it. Then at the border I just filled out a few pieces of paperwork and paid them the taxes on the car (GST/PST).

My experience is becoming more interesting every minute.
I am having trouble getting proper communication from the seller so that the transport company can properly do their job.
Basically a lot of peoples time is being wasted.
Kind of funny, I was told I would be responsible for looking after the transportation, which I have done, with a first rate car hauling company and now I can't get positive results/communication from the seller.
I will post a full report of all that I encountered, good and bad once the car is in my possession.

Hi,
Interesting, my first Cuda came from Grand Prairie 4 years ago.
Although a long drive to go and get it, it was a very scenic trip.
It was white with a black stripe.
Quinn was their last name.
I darn near have that car done now.
