70 barracuda - help with floor pans and support frame rot
« on: April 04, 2011 - 05:11:40 PM »
Hey guys, first time post.

Pulled out my 70 barracuda after many years idle in yard.

driver side was sitting in the dirt, so floor pan and support frame underneath rotted out  :-\

do they sell replacement frame sections?  can you suggest a source for pans as well?  thx!!

Depends where you live but Dave at Roseville is a fantastic source. But check with our other sponsors if you need someone closer to you.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

Welcome Jocigar.  :newbie:

Where are you located? Tell us about your car? Any pics of it showing the whole car?
Will you be planning on doing all the metal work yourself?

 Welcome Jocigar. I can tell you from recent experience you are in for a heck of a project. You have to be able to do a bunch of work yourself, or have a pile of cash on hand to pay someone else to fix your car. The main thing is you have to really want to fix it. My project is a bunch more than I envisioned, but I'm having a lot of fun!

Thanks for the warm welcome all.

Picked this one up as a "parts" car 20 years ago, even though there was nothing wrong with it ( a 318 2brl was no big deal at the time).

It is all original and I just want to get it drivable on a budget, plan on doing all the work and digging in only as absolutely needed... the fastest route to getting me behind the seat of a cuda once again.

Other than the floor pans sitting on dirt, the rest of the car is almost rot free.    Working on getting it to start-up after 20 years is my current task, the results will determine how much further I go at this time.   Floor pans and brake system would be next in line.
