taking apart door asy.

what is the best way to take apart a challenger door? door handle,glass, reg., latch, and weather stripping?? i took one side apart, and i have one more to do and they has to be a better way than i did it. i hope i can get them back together when the time comes. next question is where is a good place to buy the weather-stripping and seals?? i don't want to chip off the paint trying to put it all back together..thanks

take off the weatherstripping first.  with the window up, you can loosen the top bolts of the front and rear track( through holes in the glass)
loosen front track lower bolt as well.  this track comes out with the glass. Also remove the lower glass frame attaching screws.  Pull up glass with fronttrack.
Tape the top edge of the door to prevent scratches.

Good to get some validation on my process--this is pretty much what I figured out after laboring over the manual--all except the tape part.

From experience...the tape is even more effective when putting the window back in...

thanks dutch, i don't have to worry about scratch's taking it apart,just putting it back together. how do you get the outside door handle out and back in? the first one i bent the rod some,but they is a better way i am sure... thanks

well, I guess now that you have one out, you should be able to get the other one too... without damage.  :cheers:  just look how the rods are attached and remove the nut holding the handle in position.
