I have done it.  Not in a powershift but in a launch.  You have too much clearance between your snubber and the body.  Since there is too much clearance it allows the snubber to come up and pound the floorpan.  It is like striking the floor with a hammer.  If you don't have one, I would recommend an adjustable snubber.  Don't run the snubber against the pan under normal driving.  Adjust it up so there is around and inch or less play in it when you are going to run the car.  That solved the problem for me.  When I bent my floor the rear leaf springs also grabbed the rear valance and bent it.

Or add the pinion snubber plate that Dana E bodies had originally to take up the gap.

When I put the superstock springs in I also went with the mopar performance adj pinion snubber. I had it adjusted to where it didn't hit the floor pan when going over bumps, which worked out to be about an 1 1/2 to 2" from the pan. I bent this snubber on a 2nd gear shift to where it rubbed the pinion yoke, took it off and fixed it and it happend again. Then I bought another snubber, I can't remember the make right now but it's the heavy duty threaded screw in adjustible type. Had it set the about same an 1 1/2 to 2" from the pan, didn't bend the snubber this time, bent the pan instead. Guess I'm gonna have to take it alittle easier on my 2nd gear shifts! I have the car apart now doing a repaint and am installing weld in frame conectors. I think when I straighten the floor pan I will try to improve on the factory bracing in that area.
Thanks for the replies

Kinda sounds like you have your pinion angle wrong or a wrong adjustment.  Ususally with SS springs, you can drive a truck through the gap where the snubber goes.

I agree with Al.  Something else is wrong.  I raced these cars in the 80's when they could be had at $200 ea.  I did about everything abusive you could to them and still did not continue to bend things the way you are.
