Twins almost a year old and I kept my promise...
« on: April 07, 2011 - 09:17:19 PM »
One more week and the babies will be a year old!!! The day they were born and first had them in my arms I swore to my self that I was going to get back in shape so that I will be around for them. That day (a year ago) at 6'1 I was almost 280lbs!!! Well as of today I have offically lost over 100lbs weighing in at 177!!! :woohoo: I now feel great and have the energy to keep up with them. I worked hard to get here so I thought I would toot my own horn. :clapping:

:2thumbs: Outstanding Dave. You should be proud of yourself for good reason. And your kids will appreciate it unknowingly!

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Thanks everyone for the positive responses!!! :2thumbs:

Well done!  What was your method for the weight loss?

Basically I busted my tail in the gym 4 to 6 times a week with the main focus on cardio and high rep weight lifting. I've made it a habit to stay in that routine but now I split my workout in half between cardio and weight lifting with more focus on putting on muscle. I also did a strict diet keeping my calorie intake between 1200 to 1500 calories a day. I focused on eating 5 to 6 small meals/snacks a day consisting of high protein, low fat and low carbs. I try to get at least 100 or more grams of protein a day. I no longer drink any thing except water (except for beer!!!), don't eat fried foods and avoid fast food. The biggest thing that I do is that I eat at least one meal a week of what ever I want including dessert so that I take care of my cravings. I think this is a failure point for a lot of people as they get too strict and end up getting off track. I'm proud to say I did this all on my own and being that I was in good shape up until 8 years ago I knew what it took to be healthy. With the stress of life its not hard to get the way I did. Its a life style change for sure. Just for perspective heres a couple more before and after pics. The two before pics are within weeks of the babies being born and the current one is me working on my new shop (hence being all sweaty) a few days ago.
