Challenger bumper jack
« on: April 13, 2011 - 12:31:15 AM »
What is the correct color for the bumper jack and base for a '73 Challenger? I've seen some that were dove grey and some that were black. I've already got the mast to the jack gold zinc and wanted to make sure and get the rest the right color.

Not sure if the jacks are the same color in 72 Chargers, but this is what mine looks like and it's the stock paint as far as I know.

Yep, definitaly gray.

The spring that holds the jack in the trunk is supposed to be zinc plated but my origonal one doesn't look like it.  It is more of a natural gray metal color.  I suppose different chemicals were used in the 70's so zinc plating today doesn't look like zinc plating from back then .  Mine was in good shape so I didn't replate it.  I'm just going to clean it up a little with some steel wool.
