Anyone know this hotel?
« on: April 14, 2011 - 02:53:25 PM »
Rodeway Inn.....10 Hershey Road, Shippensburg, PA, 17257

Its 20 miles BEFORE Carlisle (west of carlisle)......the Rodeway Inn we stayed at the last two years was 20 miles AFTER (east of) Carlisle ....so same distance......

Rate was reasonable and they have king beds with sofa sleepers.

I stayed there the last 2 years, it's not too bad.  You don't spend much time in the motel anyway.  They do have dirt track races right across I81 on Saturday night that are a little noisy.

AWESOME!  Was hoping someone had.    Can you post some feedback on the joint?

What I am looking for:

- gets a quiet nights sleep (no major parking lot parties till wee hours of the morning by the ricer crowd)
- park outside the door
- relatively safe surroundings
- clean, serviceable
-beds that dont resemble the grand canyon with a crater in the middle....
- cold A/C
-mini fridge
- are their non-smoking rooms really non-smoking

They say the rooms have fridges and you park outside the door....what about the rest ?

RE: the dirt track saturday night....how late do they go?   Usually we are too bushed to do much after all day at Carlisle, but sounds like it could be fun to stop in there and check out some racing.....by the time we get done with dinner and such it is already past 8 or 9 usually.....

Do you plan on staying there again this year?

Some of the reviews of the place are not too flattering......

But the pictures seem to indicate that it would be OK.....

Of course the reviews of the New Cumberland one werent great either....and it was nice enough.

-Never had any partying in the parking lot.  It is right off I81, so you get some traffic noise, and the racetrack, but I never had any trouble sleeping.
-Yes, park outside the door.
-It is relatively safe, I haven't had any problems
-For the most part it is clean and comfortable.
-the beds are OK,
-The A/C is good, it seems like they are never full, so if you got a unit that the A/C didn't work, or the bed was bad, you could probably trade.
-Yes, there is a mini fridge.
-I get non smoking rooms and am very sensitive to odors and haven't had any problem.
-I am not sure how late the races go, I know they were still going when I was trying to go to sleep last year.
-My buddy was supposed to be getting our rooms this week, I haven't heard if he has or not, but we did plan on staying there again.
Don't expect the Ritz, you usually get what you pay for, but this place is the best that we have found in the area for the money.
