i had one of these fail after less than a year and ruin a brand new 300 dollar radiator. bearings failed and the shaft bent causing fan to wobble.

As we all know, you can get a bad apple every now and then, no matter who makes it.  There are good ones and bad ones. I am in the auto repair business and I can tell you first hand that we warranty parts all the time . Brand new name brand parts are bad when you open the box.  Sometimes they last a little while, but fail way too soon. So, before we say that ALL of these type of water pumps are bad, just remember that you just might have gotten a bad one out of a run of them that were built.
