:iagree:   Fiberglass hood springs are different than steel hood springs.
After I had my AAR painted I purchased a pair of turn buckles and
use them to keep my hood up. Springs kept cracking hood where  bracket
fastens to hood.

There's 3 different steel springs.  Ask me how I know!  I'm repainting one more hinge of mine now because I put a 73 with a 70 and my hood opened funny.  :pullinghair:

Here's how you tell.....

1970 is a one year only.  It has a narrower top bar that the hood mounts to.  It also has teeth near the pivot point.

71 - 72 are very similar to the 70, but have a wide top bar where the hood mounts and larger pin rivit on the rear top strap.

73-74 have a knee action and have no teeth.

T/A and AAR are springs with 35 coils.

Hood hinges have a four digit date code too!

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Yep, Cody has the down-low on the hood springs. I actually prefer the later style hinges that do not have the teeth that wear out.

Sorry I don't know off hand where to get hood springs for a steel hood. Try Dave at Roseville? I got my T/A hood springs from  here http://sixpackperformance.net/product.php?productid=16216
Not all T/A springs are equal. I had to buy twp sets before I found these that held my hood open. I gave my steel hood springs to someone on here, can't remember who? Sorry wish I could be more help?
