As you can see, it can be done on a 16' trailer, but it's a tight fit.  You will need them to store the original motor for another trip.

Why don't you try posting an ad on your local craigslist.org to see if someone close by would entrust you with their trailer for a reasonable fee?

Anyone on c-c.com in your neighborhood with a trailer (be sure to have the proper insurance as you never know what can go wrong on a road trip).

:jumping: Congrats on getting the car!  Welcome to the site!

When I picked up my Challenger, I used a U-Haul pickup truck and one of their trailers.  No problems.  Keep the speded down if you aren't used to driving with a trailer and so people can drool when they see your car driving by...

Can the hood fit in your Mountaineer?  Or can it be secured either on top of the hood of the car (Risky if it decides to take flight.) or can it be secured under the car once it's on the trailer?

Oh, BTW, the driver's fender on the U-haul trailer can be lowered so as to not bang the door and allow you to get in and out of the car without being a contortionist.  I found this out AFTER I unloaded the car....  :bricks1:

Thanks for all of the friendly replies! Right now it looks like I will just be renting a 16x8 unless I can find something bigger. I might have to leave the original motor/tranny there and pick them up some other time. I have considered the transport option but I think I can do it on my own a bit cheaper, and it should be a fun trip, bringing my dad and 5 yr old son. It will make for some good memories I am sure!
