AAR Fiberglass Hood bulging

Even as much as I hit my head on that thing, I always seem to forget it's there waiting to nail me.

Weird, I was just looking at the springs and it reminded me of a rocking horse we used to have like 40 years ago that had springs that looked like that on the 4 corners of the horse...

I went ahead and ordered the 7" tramplone springs.  I'll be surprised if they work, my AAR hood is HEAVY!

Update, I put on the 7in trampoline springs ($8 from Ebay).  They barely hold the hood up.  But that's ok, I'll still use the metal brackets in the hinges.  The AAR hood I have is extremely heavy, at least 2x the factory fiberglass hood I had before.
You might notice I added provision for pins in the hood brace bar, twice it was forced out by the weight of the hood.
The 1 pic shows how much extra bracing is in the reproduction hood, I doubt it would bow even with the factory steel hood spring.

I have a T/A hood and it bow's on one side too. I tried 2 different sets of springs, finally just removed the springs, and use a rod with 2 bends in it that go through the holes in the hinge to hold the hood open.

Would they work on a TA repro hood made by ASC&P I know that is not right but can not for the life of me remember what the guys 4 letters are If noty what is the best bet?

Humm don't know? I guess it depends on the weight of the hood , if the spring will hold it up or not?

For what it`s worth there are different lengths of trampoline springs out there so I am sure it will affect how well it holds up the hood. Weight of the hood will be a factor as well. I wonder how much the weight of the hoods vary between different manufacturers?
