How much too tall is is it?    I had the same problem when I got a k&n 3 inch filter.    I only needed to come down a half inch so my remedy was to put the air cleaner case on a 14 inch spare tire upside down and put a block of wood on the carb opening and just beat it down until it cleared .  Caveman style I know but it worked :)

I have another question for the pro's here, my Cuda is set up with a 68 440, stock bottom end, 4 speed, 520/540 comp extreme energy, rpm performer intake, holley dp 750, 1 3/4 headers, dual 3" exhaust, 29" rear tire, 3.23 sure-grip. Question is, id like to jump to a 3.73 ratio. what are the thoughts here? P.S. Im into rodding the crap outa the engine, but sometimes go on highway cruises 70-80mph.

 :iagree:
I would not bother with the 3.73 gears , the torque of a big block will get the car moving easily now , having the lower gears makes the highway travel not much fun

JS27NOB what carb would you recommend? I live at 5100ft and cruise through elevations up 8500 ft. Avg summer temp for 2 months is 82F.

I was living in Bozeman when I built my first 440 and had a 750 on it, a solid cam with not quite as much lift as you have but more duration and the 750 was not enough. With the RPM intake you should be able to go to a 850 and not loose much vacuum signal. I've also heard good things about the Proform but don't have any personal experience.

I did some reading up on the proform 850 and seems like a good candidate especially the price.  Anyone have personal experience with these carbs?

I put one on my car with minimal adjustments needed. The idle and floats needed to be tweaked. I also had to back off on the electric choke...That's it. The jets were spot on, so I wasn't running rich or lean. I love it really. No bogs or anything.

I have used 6 or more of the Proforms , they are the best I have used out of the box & are extremely tunable to get them tuned in perfectly

myop the carb ( 800/850)  and (17/8 or 2in ) (if it was me i would go with hooker super comp 2in) headers are small for the up grades  a + the 28 tire  i would goto the 3.73.  chunk  the 3.23 would get you the top end exspepially with the up grades  the cuda would feel a ton different :22yikes:

mopar12372, your sayin this combo should have larger than 850 cfm and 2"+ headers? thanks.

NICE CAR picyutes plz--->                 i perfer the 2in with a good set of flowing heads 17/8  for what you have at least  . actually with the way it was, was  good   except for the cam(too big) for a mild torque engine . now when you allowing more air to flow more fuel, bigger cam , intake   better head flow you have to increase the header diamter to gain from what  you have . you might not make the power your supposed to beacuse of head flow / compression but you didnt state what it was so i dont know . the intake will save you in the torque area and make the car more street worthy wich a single plane could cause your  car to load up in traffic  so good choice on the manifold .
what fuel system are you useing ? what compression ? how far up in the hole are the pistions?  what rocker arms?torque converter stall ? with your tire a 3.73 gear is tall so you might want to get a 3.55 if your going to drive 80/100 on the free way but the 3.73 would be my choice because i like the feeling of the car pushing back in the seat and doing top fuel burn outs  . these cars dont like high speeds anyway theyll go there but its not like a sports car.  IMOP Bill
