Please share any photos of a 2" leaf spring lift....
« on: April 22, 2011 - 10:17:39 PM »
Anyone running a 2" lift on their Challenger or Cuda?  I like the way the back of the Challenger looks when it's up a little higher than the front, but not sure if 2" is to much....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/REAR-LEAF-SPRINGS-70-73-CUDA-CHALLENGER-2-LIFT-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem519091af82QQitemZ350317817730QQptZVintageQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_1336wt_939

I was thinking about giving these a try.  Thoughts or pics would be great!

That would sure help get a bigger set ot tires on. Back in the 70s we would add a extra main leaf to help hold the car up to get bigger tires on without the long shackles. I never liked the ride with airshocks. Sorry exwife burned my old car pics on me. 70 AAR Cuda she said that I was spending more time with the car than with her DAM I miss that car. But now I have a 72 Cuda 440-6 with 525HP. :burnout:

I went with the Espo springs too.  I wanted to see more of the tire. I went with either 1" or 2" over stock height. It was too long ago to remember.   :banghead:

Great info guys!  I'm really liking the way it looks with a little more tire showing.   :2thumbs:

I like the look too, but be warned..... it's not the best for handling if that's a consideration? If I had it to do over again, I might have gone with the Hotchkis springs?

I decided to raise the car after hitting a few objects in the road.  :22yikes: Always liked the "jacked up"  60/70's look anyways.

Great photo!  Love it, but not a big fan of the gas cap.  The stance is nice!

Brad and LA66, what size rear tires you guys running?

I lifted my rear with the add-a-leaf approach to get me by and need to settle on a tire size.....before dropping back down a bit (maybe).

I just put 3.55s in the car and dont want to take too far a step backwards, but currently have almost worn out 235/60/15s....about 25" tall......was thinking a 275/60/15 would fill the wells nicer, but may be too much of a step backwards for my 318.....   :dunno:

How tall is your rear tire?

And I still cannot believe that 235s fit the fronts of these cars......that is the size I have on my rears now....   :scared:

27.1 tall acording to firestone specs.

Maybe the 235's won't fit a Cuda as Challengers were made for drivers not little old ladies?  :misbehaving: :poopoke: :roflsmiley:

Sorry couldn't resist..... I love Cuda's too!

I have 235/60/15 on the front of my 72 Cuda and 275/60/15 on the back. I just bought a set of Cragar SS with a 5" back space 8" wide 15". I had the 275s on the ralley rims and they fit fine under the back. I would like to go wide but I will need to move the springs or a 4 link maybe a narrow rear end. In Iowa the tires can stick out side of the wheel well. But I need to stay above them too.

Like Brad said, you may not like the way it drives after you put those springs on. I had air shocks on my car and just jacking it up an inch made it drive "funny".   For a Challenger, I usually go for the body line being horizontal to the ground. I don't like the squatting butt look and don't like the whole tire sidewall showing. Here is a pic of mine with the body line where I like it. The pace car next to me had the factory soft springs.

If you buy those +2" springs, how do plan on lowering them if you don't like them?

A couple of hundred pounds of tools and spare parts in the trunk should do it.   :naughty:
