Location of the driver side mirror control
« on: April 23, 2011 - 12:29:59 PM »
Any idea which hole to use for the mirror control? My car originally did not have a mirror control, but the new mirrors came with. Not sure which hoel in the door to use, as most holes are used for getting into the window hardware. Also my new door panels did not come with a hole, so i am assuming i have to cut one in?

Do you have these items? The square piece holds the adjuster to the door. The long piece holds the cable away from the moving glass inside the door.

[/quot.  Where did you come up with those parts? Where I purchased my mirrors, they don't have the brackets. They have the other pieces though.

Did you ever find those extra parts? I have the same issue.

On my 73 cuda it goes in the bigger of the 3 holes the one just foward of the window crank.
I don't have that long bracket, mine had two plastic loops on the cables that snapped into a bracket mounted inside the door facing the front. Not sure if challe's are the same? Rich.

Only 70 and 71 used that extra bracket in the door.  There should be two plastic clips on the cables that hold it inplace.  There is also a small metal clip on the top of the door impact beam that holds the cables.  The remote goes through the larger hole in the door.  Look on the back of your door panels.  There should be a raised circle that shows you where you need to cut the remote hole.

My 73 has those two plastic clips that hold the cables but that's it. Nothing to hold the remote in place on the door panel. It just pulls right through.

There should be a thin metal square piece that screws onto the remote.  There is a picture of it in the second post.  When the chrome bezel is screwed onto the remote, the door panel gets sandwiched in between the bezel and that thin metal piece.  That's what holds the remote tight to the door panel.

Awesome, thanks. i did get the thin square peice with my new mirrors as well as the clips. I will have to pick up a bezel, then i should be set to go. Thanks.
