Love the early Cudas, now, if you can get that blonde looking as good as the old fish, you'll be away to the races, literally!

This pic shows the original color I uncovered by backscraping with a razorblade. After Ray came to see me he went directly to Phoenix to visit Bob Wellbaum, the sole painter of all the G.C. cars and Bob was too ill to pass on the recipe. That was too bad since he and only he had the paint code in his head.Ray has seen the painted results and told me that it is a great match.I was worried because it can be so many different shades at the same time.Ray added that the original color was 12 different shades depending on the light. That was a big concern for me the fact that it was so many different shades.Thank you for your comment.Where did you come up with name for that color?I don't recall any of the G.C.s having mentioned a name for that color to me.

These two pics show new paint vs. Winners Circle at U.S.Nat's '65 where the car won F/S class and set the 1/4 mile E.T.record in that class.
When you take into account the one pic is over 45 yrs.old you can see how close the color is.Comments?

Dutch,Whoever had it after the G.C.'s must've taped over the lettering because (according to Ray "I would recognize Bob Wellbaum's work anywhere") that is the original gold lettering.Bob Wellbaum was the ONLY painter of all the G.C. cars.I believe,as well as Ray and the rest of the G.C.'s that when the car dissappeared (Due to mysterious circumstances noone to this day recalls)after the G.C.'s were disbanded by Plymouth that it was painted red to hide the fact that it was the original "GOLDFISH".When I backscraped the fender I uncovered the original gold and near the bottom of that same fender I found white under the bottom trim piece (SEE PHOTO BELOW OF RAY AND BRUCE)but that was not as important at the time as finding gold.

hpe600rt and Matt70, Yes I was given the car but I did have to trade a bored and stroked 440 w/blower to the same guy that gave it to me for the original drive train that came in the car,an LA 273 Commando,A-833 4 sp. and an 8 3/4 sure-grip pumpkin and the parts car it was in.All of which had to be totally rebuilt,$500.00 for the 4.89 gears,$300.00 to refurbish the tranny, and ready for this I have $12,000.00 in the motor,$2,000.00 in just the head work,$1,000.00 JE custom pistons and upwards of $2,000.00 JUST to have it put it together, however I am SURE I will get the stock 235H.P.(LMFAO) out of it on the dyno.Thanx for the comments fellas.P.S. Pete at Ridge Reamer in Arvada,Co. did all the GREAT engine work.
